Major Crimes is an American police procedural television series starring Mary McDonnell. It was a continuation spin-off of The Closer, set in the same police division, now headed by McDonnell's character, Sharon Raydor. It premiered on TNT on August 13, 2012, following the finale of The Closer.

Raydor's death casts a long shadow over the events of Major Crimes' climax, a feeling which was very much by design. In the show's final episodes By Any Means parts one through four, the Major Crimes detectives work to take Stroh down once and for all. At the end of Major Crimes, Stroh is shot dead by Rusty Beck though Lieutenant Provenza takes credit to protect Rusty.

Reluctantly, Provenza conceded and tossed Stroh a pair of handcuffs. As Stroh bent down to take the handcuffs, Rusty suddenly entered and shot Stroh three times in the chest. As Stroh stared at Rusty in shock, Rusty shot Stroh twice more, killing him.
