After 1 week of Sumeru, how do you like it compared to Inazuma? (2024)

I've been enjoying it a lot. The music, enemies, exploration, puzzles, its all hitting the right spots. I'd say the only thing that's been tough is the Aranara quest line, its a tad too long, and its way too difficult to keep up with all the "ara" names.

Sumeru so far has been the best area in the entire videogame for me, I love it. I mean I loved Inazuma too ('specially Fog island) but not as much as I'm loving Sumeru right now.

The music is amazing, the landscapes, the themes, magical little forest spirits. Cool bouncy mushrooms, little flowers that recover your stamina. And the useage of color... omigosh~
It really feels like an area made with someone like me in mind. It's the kinda of place I can really feel at home in while playing. Oh and the grapple points everywhere are pretty fun too. Oh oh, and the animals chilling doing various animal things, like the big kitties sometimes playing with their tails <3 It feels more alive than ever.

And aside from all that a lot of the Sumeru daily comissions have been amusing new experiences as well.

Also all the cave systems to explore really makes the map a bit bigger than it seems at first and pretty darn interesting~

The questlines have also been very interesting to me as well and even some of these generic model npcs are interesting enough to be memorable and liked.

Oh and most importantly it brought new best girl Collei♪

One thing I will say: Inazuma exploration was very nice and I enjoyed it more than anywhere else because of how it worked.

It was because it was islands.
There were 6 very well defined zones. It made exploring easier because the scale of the zone was more tangible. There wasn't an endless sea of green grass with a treasure chest 5 miles in the distance in every distance.

Doesn't need to be because of islands, but defined zones is something the other maps lack. Now that all the Statues are open, I don't even know which area is tied to which exploration number.

There are no impossible to scale cliffs. There are no giant raging rivers that cannot be leisurely swum across. There are no defined tree lines for forests... There is no area that is all withered and red (that I know of). Everything just sort of exists together. The only area that I find different enough from the rest of Sumeru is the Mushroom Forest. The rest is all grassland with trees. I can't even tell where Sumeru ends and where Liyue starts.

I know that it doesn't make much sense geographically for there to be things like giant canyons everywhere... but I always find that when a world does this, and has a very notable region, it makes exploration more fun and unique.

Also Side Note: While I think it is amazing that there is a huge underground area that spans all of Sumeru and is all interconnected and whatnot, it is complete horseswallow that there isn't an underground map you can switch to. Trying to find your way underground is next to impossible, and seeing the above ground map while trying to get back to somewhere is useless.

Certainly not famous (but possibly notorious) author of naughty video game inspired fiction.
