Who ends up with Akari Watanabe? ›

When Akari was very upset from Minami Tenjin showing at the festival with another girl and Jirō was there later to comfort her, Akari's feelings for Jirō gets stronger and she spends most of her time with him. At the end of this chapter, Akari marries Jirō who she basically has not losing himself.

As Jirō catches up to them, they each pay their respects and Jirō realises the shrine is famous for fulfilling romantic wishes. As the episode ends, Jirō and Akari are later shown to continue their marriage together and being ranked fourth in the latest report while Shiori and Minami are ranked third.

It's portrayed that Shiori did have feelings for Jiro since the beginning but simply didn't have the courage to confess, and Jiro interpreted her silence as rejection.

In chapter 33, Akari officially admits that she doesn't love Tenjin anymore but instead has fallen in love with Jirō. Knowing that she needs to be more proactive than before if she doesn't want to lose Jirō, she starts to care even more for and even make advances on him.

Fans will have to wait for more manga chapters to be published before More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers Season 2 even enters pre-production. As annoying as this may be for those who need to see who Jiro chooses to pursue a relationship right now, this kind of wait in between seasons is actually normal.

As the story progressed, her feelings towards Minami became conflicted when she slowly grew attached to Jirō. During the Test of Courage, Akari confessed her love to Minami but the latter gently lets her down after he noticed that she screamed for Jirō's name when she got lost in the forest moments earlier.

Jirou's final fate is uncertain within the show itself. He is not seen returning from the "perfect world," but is not mentioned again after Chester takes Yuko into the past, where she merges with a past version of herself who is still pregnant with both himself and Jirou.
