Best way to Venice airport early in morning?
We have to be at Venice Marco Polo airport early to check in for a 830am flight. Can anyone recommend the best way to get there given we can't just jump in a taxi as there are no cars in Venice? We're staying in the Castello region. Are there early morning water ferries (think they're called vaporetto)?

7 of us will be renting an apartment near the Rialto bridge area
We have an early morning flight returning to the U.S.
Is hiring a private water taxi to take us directly to the airport the best way to go?
Is that something I can arrange in advance? What should we expect to pay as a group?

You want this site: http://www.alilaguna.it/?funzione=1&...alore=8&modo=6 We have used it a few times for early flights. Effective and much cheaper than a water taxi.

Here is the English language version of the website regarding the private taxis in Venice that operate 24 hours a day. I believe you will find it to answer all questions.

this has actually been discussed several times.
the timetable for the No 1 vaporetto [water bus] shows that the first one from the Rialto stop will get you to the Piazzale Roma to catch the bus to the airport at about 5.35 am:

and here's the timetable for the No 5 bus, which leaves about 5 mins later.

this ought to get you there well in time for an earl flight.

Thanks everyone for the assistance and prompt responses
I thought with 7 of us it might be affordable to take a water taxi directly to airport
I prefer to avoid P Roma and having to move luggage yet again onto a bus
Private water taxi it is!

Dperry, you will so enjoy your time on the water taxi! It is always sad to leave Venice but leaving it in a water taxi helps the pain, lol. Wishing you all a lovely time in beautiful Italy.

There were four of us in a water taxi a couple of weeks ago, with a lot of luggage and there was certainly enough room for 3 more people.
Our water taxi to the airport cost 110.00euros and was well worth it,not just for the convenience, but what a way to leave Venice, it was fantastic!
