Critics Consensus

Blood has a handful of solid scares, but a narrative that fails to truly coagulate makes this half-empty vial of vampire horror difficult to recommend.

Awais S so good, we need more stories like this. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/24 Full Review Manda M This movie was watchable, the last 20 mins where the best. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/23 Full Review Avindu G With the tremendous performance by Michelle Monaghan this movie really takes off. The tone of visuals are excellent for the story so is the location and scenery. Good intelligent use of visual effects. Great cinematography capturing the emotions carefully and often distracting to induce tension. Clever usage of sound effects the buzzing of flies for example is absolutely clever in picturing how plagued the family is. The movie never derailed from it's tracks and doesn't try to pack too much to it's run time. It's a well written and well made movie. Blood brings out many emotions and connects to the audience in the right way. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/04/23 Full Review Ballisticzs R Blood is a great horror movie with very Stephen King style of story-telling and the movie is just one big build-up until the very end that gets you invested into this movie as this little boy gets bit by a rabid dog and the disease that infected him, makes the boy have this hunger for human blood. The story gets really real once they get into the themes of how much a mother is willing to go for their child and what they are willing to do. Michelle Monaghan as the mother is the perfect casting, and the only reason I know of this movie is because of Skeet Ulrich's role in which he has such a great and intense dynamic with Monaghan as divorced parents with each having passion and care for their kids. The two child actors in this movie were also awesome in their roles as they have this brother and sister dynamic similar to the kids in Spy Kids. The story in itself is pretty generic but the way it was told, and the way it's enhanced with the performances and different turns the story takes, it all just makes the ending conclusion more devastating and heartfelt. Overall, Blood is a great horror mystery with suspense and awesome performances from the cast. I enjoy it a lot when movies are able to take a generic plot and enhance the story further and this movie does just that. B-. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/12/23 Full Review Shadra B Loved it! The story was insane and unique but the acting was so amazing I bought into it. The characters were well developed, the pacing was great, I have zero criticisms on this one. People seeking a "vampire movie" will be disappointed, because it's not that, but for a an off-the-beaten-path, well done horror movie, BLOOD is the best! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/01/23 Full Review Mark K If you're into vampire stuff nonsense I guess it might do. Despite a good lead actress, even she fails to save this idiotic story 🤦‍♂️ Save your time, energy and frustration. It's a very silly if not dumb movie. Next!!!
