Colten Moore - Road 2 Recovery (2)

Two-timeSnowmobile Freestyle gold medalist Colten Moore was injured during the performance of the double backflip on a snowmobile at Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. Colten suffered a dislocated T-12 vertebra which bruised his spinal cord. Just after the crash, he was flown to Denver from Aspen and underwent surgery to repair the dislocation. Thankfully, Colten has already been up and walking with the help of his care team. However, due to the injuries suffered, there are some complications and he’ll need to go to a rehabilitation center specializing in spinal cord injuries.

Unfortunately, the costs involved with such a rehabilitation center are extremely high and insurance will not agree to send him to the private facility. Colten has a great team of rehab specialists waiting for him in back in his hometown in Texas. But before he can go back home, he will need to be admitted into one of the world’s best inpatient rehabilitation centers to insure the best possible outcome. All funding raised will go to help cover the enormous, per day cost of the Spinal Cord Rehab, added physical therapy, travel home, and any medical bills that insurance won’t cover. 100% of your donations will go towards Colten’s un-covered medical costs and any left over funds would be directed back towards Road2Recovery to help others in need. Your donation matters.

Colten remains very positive as well as thankful that he can walk. However, serious complications surrounding the injury are necessary to address and the rehabilitation team is ready to welcome Colten. If Colten or the “Catching the Sky” story has moved you in any way, please consider donating to #HelpColtenRecover.

Please feel free to post a positive message to Colten here and follow his Road 2 Recovery. When posting on social, use#HelpColtenRecover so Colten can see all your posts.

TRUST IN GOD AND ASK GOD TO GIVE YOU STRENGTH WHEN YOU NEED IT AND HE WILL GIVE YOU STRENGTH. STAY STRONG IN YOU’RE RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST. PEOPLE LIKE DANNY WAY AND JAKE BROWN HAVE HAD SIMILAR INJURIES AND GOT BETTER ENOUGH TO SKATE AGAIN SO HOPEFULLY YOU WILL GET BETTER ENOUGH TO RIDE AGAIN LIKE THEY DID. JAKE BROWN ONCE SAID, “…What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…” SO THINK OF THOSE THINGS HOPEFULLY YOU’LL GET BETTER:)

My daughter & I are avid snowmobilers, & were in Aspen watching you in the X-Games. As I was thinking, “Oh $@:+, he’s got too much air,” my 12 year old daughter told me, “Someday I want to do that Mom!” You’re an inspiration, & we both wish you a swift & successful recovery.

Colten is a legendary rider and inimitable personality! He’s always gold Snowmobile Freestyle and this does not depend on the space that it occupies in the competition.
A speedy recovery and a happy return home, Colten!
To my great and bitter sorrow, I can only help word…

To continued Recovery it’s a long road I know I had to learn how to redo things especially walk, after spending 2 and a half weeks on life support and 21 days in the U of M icu back in april. I had preexisting chronic pain and autoimmune issues on top of recovering from legionaries disease which caused sepsis and 3 other hospital related infections that are common with long term hospital stays. My advice you have to take the road to recovery one hour one day and one month at a time. I wasn’t expected to live by anyone. They all called me their miracle at the icu, I called the my angels. It’s not often we get a second chance in life and prayers from around the world have helped me so I’m sending prayer for a full recovery.
