Third-country nationals travelling to Spain for a stay of up to 90 days (in any period of 180 days) for tourism, business, family visit, medical treatment, study, non-working practice or voluntary activities lasting less than 3 months, or for other activities of a non-profit nature, must comply with the entry conditions set out in the Schengen Borders Code.
Entry requirements
•Entry through one of the authorised border crossing points.
•Proof of identity with a valid and valid travel document.
•Hold a visa where required depending on nationality.
•Prove the conditions of the intended stay and the availability of financial means.
•Not be subject to entry bans.
Covid
On 2 June 2022, Spain lifted all restrictions on free movement between EU countries that it has applied for more than two years in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Since that date, Spain does not impose any health-related restriction on travellers coming from Ireland and, in general, from an EU country or a Schengen associated country. Documents to be presented at the border
1-Valid and valid passport or travel document. The document must be valid until 3 months after the planned date of departure from Schengen territory, and must have been issued within the 10 years prior to the date of entry.
2- Visa. For certain nationalities, a valid and unexpired stay visa is required. A stay visa is not required if the person concerned has a valid residence permit or a valid long-stay visa issued by a Schengen State. The nationalities for whose nationals a stay visa is required can be found in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806.

3- Documents justifying the purpose and conditions of the intended stay: At the request of the relevant authorities, the purpose and conditions of the intended stay must be justified by producing any document or means of proof. The following documents, among others, may be required for this purpose.
- Return or tourist circuit ticket.
- For business trips, an invitation from a company or authority to attend meetings or documents proving the existence of relations linked to the business activity or access cards for trade fairs and congresses.
- For tourist or private trips, confirmation of the booking of an organised trip or proof of accommodation or a letter of invitation from a private individual (the letter of invitation only proves the availability of accommodation and does not replace the proof of the other entry requirements). The proof of accommodation may indicate whether it covers all or part of the subsistence.
- For travel for study, training, non-work placements or volunteering of up to 3 months, enrolment or proof of admission to an educational establishment or traineeship agreement or proof of admission to a volunteer programme.
- For travel for other reasons, invitations, reservations or programmes or certificates of participation in travel-related activities, entry cards or receipts.
Proof of financial means
At the request of the relevant authorities, proof of sufficient financial means for the intended stay or the ability to legally obtain such means must be provided.
In 2023, the minimum amount required is 108euros per person per day. In any case, and regardless of the number of days of stay, a minimum amount of 972euros or its equivalent in foreign currency will be required.
Financial means can be accredited by presenting cash, traveller's cheques, credit cards accompanied by a statement from the bank account, an up-to-date bank statement or any other means that accredits the amount available as credit on the card or bank account.Letters from banks or online bank statements are not accepted.
Authorisation of entry
Entry into Spain may be authorised for third-country nationals who have the necessary documentation, including, where applicable, a visa, and sufficient financial means, and who are not subject to entry bans or pose a danger to public order, the internal or external security of the State or public health.
Refusal of entry
The competent authorities shall refuse entry to third-country nationals who do not fulfil the entry conditions or who are subject to an entry ban. Entry may also be refused on the grounds that the 90 days of authorised stay in the Schengen area have been used up within 180 days.
The refusal of entry is notified in writing which and provides information on the appeals that may be submitted in accordance with Spanish regulations. However, submission of an appeal does not suspend the effects of the refusal of entry.
Citizens of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland and their family members
Citizens of the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland may enter Spain with their national identity card or valid passport. Minors travelling with an ID and unaccompanied by a parent will need the authorisation of one of the parents.
Family members who are not nationals of EU Member States or of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland may enter with a valid passport.
