The Mole’s revival season has come to its suspenseful conclusion on Netflix and all of our theories have been tested and our questions have been answered — well, not all of our questions.
While we do know who won The Mole’s 2022 season and we know who the Mole really was, there’s still one question that’s gnawing at our minds. Is it possible for the Mole on The Mole to actually win the whole season and win money? Let’s think about this…
Can the Mole win The Mole?
No, the Mole cannot win The Mole. Seems kinda unfair, right? The show is named after them! But it wouldn’t make sense for the Mole to spend the entire season trying to take money away from a prize pot that they themselves would ultimately win. Why would they want to work so hard to win less money?
That means that in the finale episode, only two of the final three contestants were really eligible to win. And if both of those contestants had picked the wrong person as the Mole, then the contestant who answered the most questions in the final quiz correctly would have won. That’s why it’s still wise to spread your answers out a little bit even when you’re down to just two suspects. Or maybe it’s wiser to go all in! It depends on your strategy as a non-Mole player in The Mole.
Does the Mole win any money?
The Mole cannot and does not win any money, but it’s entirely possible that they are paid money. Contestants on reality TV are often paid for their time, which makes sense considering that people pause their lives — including their jobs — in order to appear on these shows for a brief window of time. With that in mind, yes, it’s likely that the Mole was paid to sabotage the other players’ gameplay. However, it’s unknown what they — or any contestants — were paid. The only money amount we know is the money amount that the season’s overall winner walked away with for correctly identifying the Mole.
And just for the record: this is a question that Mole fans have been asking literally since the series debuted way, way back in 2001. This isn’t a mystery with the Netflix revival. It’s part of The Mole’s central lore as a TV show. How much does a saboteur make for sabotaging? We may never know — and that seems appropriate, considering that The Mole is a show that’s all about questions and suspicion.
