Heavy Rain Oragami Reference

During the chapter The Painter, you can find some oragami foldouts from the game Heavy Rain on a bookshelf on the ground level of the main hall.

The bookshelf is in the back of the room on the left side. You'll notice a few of oragami on the shelves when you walk up to it.

Theater Heavy Rain and Movie References

In the chapter Battle for Detroit, there is another reference to Heavy Rain, as well as possible nods to a few blockbuster movies. During the cutscene when you control Kara and Alice, when Kara looks down to pick up a gun from the ground, there will be a movie theater with some films listed on it.

It will be a little hard to notice because of the color of the text, but the movies spelled out on there are Heavy Rain, To Infinite And Beyond, Nomad Soul, and Jungle 2. While the name Heavy Rain is a very obvious reference to the game Heavy Rain, the other names are a bit more obscure. To Infinite And Beyond is a phrase commonly associated with TOY STORY, while Noman Soul and Jungle 2 may be random names.

NOTE: Some have also stated that the words Beyond 2 Souls being on there might be a reference to Quantic Dream's game Beyond Two Souls.

Piano Piece From Detroit Soundtrack

During the chapter The Painter, the music that Marcus plays on the piano is actually from the game's soundtrack. When he sits down to begin playing , the notes will be Kara's theme music.

While there are some mild differences in the sound, depending on how you hit the prompts on screen, it is the same theme from the game's soundtrack.

Kara Short Film Easter Egg

During the chapter Broken, Marcus can search the junkyard and come across an android on the ground that will sing to him when examined. The android will go offline after briefly singing. You can find it in a nearby corner after Marcus regains the use of his legs and before you climb the slope. It will be on the right of the slope in a small corner.

This is a reference to the Kara short that was the first teaser for Detroit Become Human. The android will be singing in Japanese, similar to how Kara does in the short film.

Marcus Sings The Trailer Song

During the final segment in The Battle For Detroit, if you decide to have Marcus sing instead of Kiss North, he begins to sing the same song from the original trailer to Detroit Become Human.

As he sings, the rest of the androids will join with him in harmony, singing the same music that was with the reveal trailer for the game. The song itself was used in the trailer that featured Luthor.

Beyond Two Souls Symbol

In the chapter Capitol Park when you're playing as Marcus, one of the signs that you can tag the area with is a reference to a symbol in Beyond Two Souls. It is the one that looks like a modified peace sign. This is a reference to some of the abilities that Jodie Holmes can do during the game.

Chloe Menu Breaking the 4th Wall

While you're playing Detroit Become Human, the main menu will have the android Chloe speaking to you at various times. If you exit the game and come back later, she will say a number of different phrases, or even offer you to take a survey with a series of questions related to androids, life, and more. She also has unique phrases based on your system's date. She will wish you happy holidays on Dec. 25 as well as New Years. She also states the developer's anniversary on May 1st.

However, if during your game you manage to somehow get Kara and Alice killed, Chloe will have a big reaction to your choices when you exit back to the main menu. She'll be appauled at your choices and complain that you could've stopped their deaths.

This will only happen when Kara and Alice are killed during the story, it's unconfirmed if Chloe will react to either Marcus or Connor being killed at any point of the game.

Chloe's Freedom Choice

When you finally finish the game the first time (unconfirmed if donefor both good and bad endings) Chloe will have a brief conversation with you once you get back to the main menu after the credits. She will ask if you will allow her to go free instead of staying to watch you play the game. Making this choice has one of two affects.

If you allow Chloe to go free, she will thank you and leave the main menu, not returning back even after you relaunch the game. If you however choose to make her stay, she'll reset her thoughts and remain with you on the main menu. If you decide to make her stay, you'll still hear her dialogue throughout all of the menus, but if she leaves you won't have it anymore.

Secret Ending Cutscenes - Good and Bad Endings

When you complete the game with a full peaceful route (not killing anyone and everyone surviving to the end), then a special cutscene will play after the first round of credits. The scene will show Hank and Connor meeting up together and giving each other a hug.

The location is the same place as the one in the chapter The Nest. You can only see this scene if every playable character and Hank survives the events of the story straight to the end.

If on the other hand you have a very violent route, or if everyone dies by the end of the game, then you will get another special cutscene after the credits featuring Connor. Amanda will meet with Connor in the garden one last time and inform him that he's being decomissioned in favor of a brand new model.

This ending can be achieved if Connor makes android decisions and fails to make a connection with Hank, as well as every other character in the game dying during the story.

Hitman Series Agent 47 Reference

In the chapter Battle for Detroit, there is a very subtle reference to the Hitman series. While being escorted to the elevator by the CyberLife guards, one of the guards ahead of you will be named Agent 47.

This is the same callsign for the main character of the Hitman series. While the reference isn't too big, you'll easily miss it if you aren't paying attention.

Terminator Movie Reference

There is a trophy in Detroit Become Human that is earned when Connor dies in every way possible in the game. If you manage to get every death sequence with Connor, the trophy "I'll Be Back" will pop up.

This is a direct quote and reference to the Terminator movie franchise, where Arnold Schwarzenegger says the famous line. There may also be a link to the name Connor the name John Connor from the Terminator movies as well.
