What is alcohol denat?

Denatured alcohol is alcohol that has any type of denaturant, so essentially ethanol that is mixed with other ingredients. Manufacturers add these ingredients to ethanol to make it smell and taste bad to discourage people from drinking it.

What does alcohol denat do to your skin?

Alcohol denat is beneficial for people with oily skin because it can temporarily reduce oil and grease. It also helps products to spread easily and absorb quickly, acting as a preservative. Due to its ability to remove oils from the skin, it helps other ingredients become more effective.

What is the difference between alcohol and alcohol denat?

The alcohol we consume in beverages and drinks is called ethyl alcohol or ethanol. The difference between ethyl alcohol and alcohol denat is that alcohol denat is ethanol with some ingredients added to make it smell and taste bad.

Is alcohol denat safe?

Alcohol denat included in cosmetic products is safe to use in small quantities, however it is not safe to drink.

Overuse of alcohol denat on the face should also be limited as excessive use can dry the skin, causing irritation and redness. Using alcohol denat more than once every two weeks can draw out the natural oils in the skin. Prolonged use can also enlarge the pores and increase sebum production, resulting in greasy skin.
