Where are Sonic products made?

Sonic designs and manufactures tools and storage solutions throughout Europe and Taiwan, focusing on the best locations for producing the highest quality product. We are a Dutch-based company with facilities in Germany, the Netherlands, Taiwan, and the United States.

Does Sonic have tool trucks?

Sonic does not have tool trucks because we offer professional grade tools directly to consumers, instead of several layers of distribution. Your phone becomes your “tool truck” which allows Sonic to offer lower prices and more consistent customer service.

Are your tools sold in stores?

No, Sonic utilizes the direct distribution model, which eliminates the hassle of a middle man. This allows us to offer professional solutions at a more affordable price then tool truck companies. How long has Sonic been around?

Sonic, in its current form, was founded in 2004. The roots of Sonic travel back nearly 50 years. From two fathers who passed hand tool and equipment knowledge to their sons, we have been perfecting our craft for decades. Since its inception, Sonic now extends across the global market, represented in over 65 countries worldwide.

Sonic was launched in North America in early 2015, quickly partnering with the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA). Since, Sonic has enjoyed tremendous success in the US and developed partnerships within the automotive, aviation, and manufacturing industries. Sonic’s versatile product line is demonstrated across a broad spectrum of industries and will continue to grow in demand.

Do you sell to individuals or businesses?

Both! Sonic sells to businesses and individuals within the automotive, aviation, and manufacturing industries. We take pride in helping technicians become more efficient and improve businesses bottom line.

How does Sonic’s tool quality compare to professional tool truck brands?

Sonic hand tools have been proven to be equal or greater quality in comparison to professional tool truck brands; in fact, our tools are built in some of the same factories as other ‘tool truck’ competitors.

Sonic Foam System

What is the Sonic Foam System?

The Sonic Foam System is dual density EVA foam with CNC-machined cutouts for each tool. This allows each tool to have its own marked spot. The Sonic Foam System has proven to save time and money by making tool retrieval and return faster, which reduces the number of misplaced tools.

Will the Sonic Foam System work in my current toolbox?

It depends on the dimensions of the drawers in your toolbox. The measurements for Sonic’s foam inlays are as follows:

  • Small – 7.5” x 14.5”
  • Medium – 22.5” x 14.5”
  • Large – 29” x 17”
  • XD – 29 x 22.5”

What is the inventory control folder?

The inventory control folders contain sheets for each Sonic Foam System included with the toolbox you ordered. Each sheet contains a layout of the drawer, including part numbers and locations for tools. Sonic’s inventory control books help you audit your toolbox to ensure you are not missing a tool.

Can I purchase an empty foam inlay?

The Sonic Foam System is only sold with tools – not empty. Each foam is cut to fit our tools, therefore buying it empty would not be beneficial.

What are the benefits of SFS?

The Sonic Foam System provides organization which helps technicians be efficient. According to an independent time study, SFS improves retrieval of tools by 20%, which turns more hours, leading to more jobs, which leads to more money immediately.

These organized foam inlays also help ensure that tools are accounted for and accelerates the process of taking inventory.

Shipping

How are Sonic products shipped?

For orders that require a pallet, such as toolboxes or cabinets, Sonic ships through a freight carrier. This is noted during checkout when choosing the shipping method “Per weight carrier (fixed)”. Standard freight shipping includes free curbside delivery and lift gate service. This complimentary service is designed to expedite the process of unloading your package.

For regular non-freight shipments, Sonic utilizes UPS and is delivered to your front door.

Does Sonic ship internationally?

No, Sonic only services North America which includes the United States, Canada and Mexico. For any international inquiries, please reach out to [emailprotected].

Can I pick up my order from your facility?

Yes. Sonic does offer local pickup at their United States headquarters in Auburn, Alabama. Local sales tax will still apply.

Can I use my own shipping company?

Sonic will allow businesses to utilize their own shipping company as long as they can provide the account number and freight BOL number.

If you do use your own shipping carrier, Sonic is not liable for any damages that occur during the shipping process. The Sonic lifetime warranty will not cover these shipping damages.

What if my shipment arrives damaged?

In a rare event that Sonic products arrive damaged, all damaged product WILL be covered under our lifetime warranty. We will also cover return shipping if the product needs to be returned to us.

If you notice that your freight order is damaged, please refuse the shipment and tell the freight carrier that it is damaged. This will help streamline the process as the freight carrier will be able to return the shipment to Sonic immediately.

How do I track my order?

You will receive a shipping tracking number via email from us after your order is placed! The tracking number may take up to 24 hours to function after being sent due to processing by the shipping company.

Once your order does ship, you will receive shipping notifications keeping you updated with your order.

Lifetime Warranty

What is the warranty policy?

Sonic’s warranty process is a very simple and efficient method. All you have to do is take a photo of your broken product, upload the photo into our online portal, and their team will ship you a replacement within 24 hours. Do I have to pay return shipping when I warrant a tool?

Sonic covers the cost of shipping for all of the warranty of the tools.

My tool broke. Does it qualify for the lifetime warranty?

Our team is very reasonable when it comes to warranties, so you are most likely covered. Please read through our warranty terms and conditions or call us at 844-407-6642 if you have any questions.

How much is the discount?

The student discount is 35% and the school discount is 30%!

Who is eligible for the student program?

All full-time collegiate or tech school level students currently enrolled and fulfilling their academic responsibilities are eligible. Simply fill out an online application HERE and one of Sonic’s education sales specialists will reach out.

What products are available to me at student pricing?

The Sonic student discount is available for all products excluding promotional items and the MSS and MSS+ lines. Discounts cannot be used on sale items.

How much am I allowed to purchase with my student pricing?

As much as you’d like. Unlike other companies, there is no limit to how much you can purchase using your student discount. As long as you are currently enrolled, fulfilling your academic responsibilities, and it has been within 90 days after graduating from school, your student discount is valid for all purchases.

How do I place an order?

Simply fill out the online student application HERE, then start shopping online! A Sonic sales representative will reach out shortly after completion of the application to help guide you through the purchase process and answer any questions that you may have. The 35% discount will apply on our website as soon as you are accepted into the program.

Do you offer student financing?

Student financing is available for those that are approved into the Sonic Student Program. Once approved into the program, you can reach out to a sales team member for a financing application. Your application will be processed within 24 hours and the finance offerings range anywhere from $2,000 – $7,000 for a 24 – 36 month time period.

When does my discount expire?

Your student discount is valid up to 90 days after graduating from your academic institution.

Do discounts stack?

Education discounts do not stack with sales or promotions.

Products

Can I test out the tools?

Yes, we offer a sample kit for $60 which includes a 3/8” ratchet, Phillips screwdriver, pliers, 10mm sockets, and a few other basic tools for your everyday use.

Can I buy individual hand tools?

Yes, we do sell all of our hand tools tools individually. Click HERE to shop hand tools.

What is the difference between MSS and MSS+ cabinetry?

Both systems are designed to work seamlessly with our Sonic Foam System. MSS and MSS+ are closely related in design and functionality, but the componentry is vastly different. MSS+ takes all the great features of MSS and pushes them to the next level. MSS+ offers stronger construction, increased metal thickness, higher capacity Dutch-made drawer slides, improved Blum hinges, German fixed code locks, integrated power, LED lighting options, and more. Do you offer tools in Standard/SAE?

Yes, Sonic offers plenty of SAE options. The Sonic Foam Systems indicate standard tools by using 2-tone red and black and metric tools using gray and black. Shop HERE.

Do I have to purchase a pre-built toolset, or can I build my own?

When shopping our tools, the most convenient option is to purchase complete toolsets that are already built for your industry and skill level. With that being said, some customers prefer to select each individual foam from our Sonic Foam System and build their set that way.

Does Sonic offer a calibration service for torque wrenches?

Sonic does not offer in-house recalibrations. If you do need to recalibrate your torque wrench, we’d be happy to suggest a calibration service.

Laser Etching

What are the benefits of laser etching?

As an additional service, Sonic offers laser etching for all your personalization, serialization, and identification for your tools. Sonic’s in-house capabilities allow you to add up to 6 characters on each tool before it leaves the facility, giving you the solution to making asset management and organization more efficient.

What are my etching options?

The two etching options are Standard Serialization and Custom Laser Etching. Standard Serialization comes with all Sonic Pathway Program toolsets. Custom Laser Etching is 6 characters of your choosing that can be etched into the tools within your toolset.

What is Standard Serialization?

Standard Serialization is unique characters that are applied to a toolset that helps eliminate cross-contamination and helps with accountability of tools within the workplace.

What is Custom Laser Etching?

Custom Laser Etching is a way to personalize your tools with a specific 6 character term unique to you. Whether you choose your name, initials, or specific numbers, this is a great way to keep track of which tools are yours vs others.

Financing

Does Sonic offer financing?

Sonic offers consumer financing through Affirm. Affirm is a financing alternative to credit cards and other credit-payment products.
