What are Insurgencies

Insurgencies are a gameplay mode that unlocks when the main campaign is completed. Antón Castillo has been defeated, but there are insurgent groups of his loyal army trying to reclaim control of Yara. Each week a new insurgent leader will take control of one or more provinces, and it is Dani's task to defeat the insurgent leader and restore Libertad's control of the province(s).

Insurgencies are time-limited events. You will have seven days to complete the objectives before everything resets and a new Insurgency begins. The reset occurs some time on Monday or Tuesday, depending on your time zone around the world.

How Insurgencies Work

A new tab will be added to the menu system called "Insurgency". This menu screen outlines everything you need to know about the current Insurgency. The ultimate goal, "Defeat the Insurgent Leader", is clearly stated. Just below that, the impacted province or provinces are identified, and just below that you will find the time remaining in this week's Insurgency.

Next are the four (occasionally three) objectives that must be completed. They are:

  • Complete One of Lola's Special Operations: A specific Special Operation will be required each week.
  • Capture One or More FND Bases: Usually one base is required, but sometimes two. View the Journal or the Map to see the available bases in the province.
  • Capture One or More Checkpoints: This usually requires one or two checkpoints, but can be as many as four. View the Journal or the Map to see the available checkpoints in the province.
  • Blow Up One or More Anti-Aircraft Cannons: This quanity can range from zero (thus three objectives) up to four. View the Journal or the Map to see the available targets in the province.

The right side of the Insurgency menu screen will show details of the Insurgent Leader. It will all be redacted at first. Each time one of the objectives are completed, more inforation is revealed. When all the objectives are completed, the name and location of the Insurgent Leader will be displayed, and a new target will be shown in the Journal and on the Map.

The final target will be another FND base. The Insurgent Leader will be one of the soldiers defending the base. Capturing the FND base will defeat the Insurgent Leader and complete the Insurgency for the week.

The mechanics of completing the objectives are the same as in the main campaign. No new obstacles have been added. You can always crank up the difficulty setting if you want something more challenging. If you captured an FND base with stealth the first time, try using a full frontal assault the next time. Experiment with different weapon loadouts and amigos.

Insurgency Rewards

Rewards are earned for completing each objective and the final target. The rewards for the final target are displayed on the Insurgency menu screen. They include 3000 XP, 1250 Moneda, a unique weapon, and a Special Operations Key. Hover over the objectives to see the rewards for each. They will vary from one objective to the next, and from week to week. The net rewards for completing all objectives and defeating the Insurgent Leader can be as much as 6600 XP, 2750 Moneda, 8 Industrial Composites, and 8 Industrial Circuits, plus a new unique weapon. For details of the weapons, check out Unique Weapons - Insurgency Rewards.

At this point in your playthrough, it is likely that you are at or near the maximum rank of 20. Once you fill the XP bar at Rank 20, earned XP will be replaced by Moneda, at a ratio of 20:1. That means that the 6600 XP you could earn from defeating an Insurgency would become 330 Moneda instead.

The unique weapon earned will be different each week. At week 21 these began to repeat, so it appears that there are 20 Insurgencies and 20 new unique weapons available. If you missed the first few Insurgencies while you were completing the main campaign, you should get a chance to complete them all and collect all the weapons when they cycle back around.
