Jane Monreal (2024)

Meet weekend evening anchor and a reporter Jane Monreal.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jane Monreal is the weekend evening anchor and a reporter at WCNC Charlotte.

She moved up to the Queen City, most recently from Fort Myers, Florida, where she was the weekday evening anchor and investigative reporter at WFTX. Her work there garnered her an Emmy nomination. She was also recognized by the Florida Association of Broadcasters, for her investigative series on the then-appointed sheriff of Lee County.

While in Southwest Florida, she anchored wall-to-wall coverage of Hurricane Irma. She also field-anchored the high-profile murder case of Dr. Teresa Sievers in a murder-for-hire plot by her husband. She covered stories from a COVID-19 long-hauler’s tale of survival, to following the growing concerns of human trafficking along US 41, also known as “The Stroll.”

Jane graduated with honors from the University of Miami, with a bachelor’s degree in International Finance and Marketing. While her educational background is in business, her professional career is rooted in broadcast journalism.

After several years on the news radio station, KFWB, in Los Angeles, she made the move to television. At KABC, Jane reported on traffic, entertainment and features segments. The next stop was at KCNC in Denver, Colorado, before moving to the anchor desk at Tegna station, KIII, in Corpus Christi, Texas. There, she was voted “The Caller-Times” Readers Choice “Favorite Anchor.” She then moved to Kansas City for a breaking news and weekend anchor position at KSHB.

During her free time, Jane and her husband enjoy traveling and trying new restaurants, including a good hole-in-the-wall. Every now and then, they also like to golf and belt out karaoke.
