Not the most ideal solution but...you could use your bonfire ascetics to simulate a NG+ cycle, that way you can run through the game again with the crown on

This item actually has some cool lore implications. Vendrick and the other Old Kings sought a way to defy the Undead Curse, yet none succeded. But the player, harnessing their combined power, can no longer go hollow, thus subduing the Curse.

        • FromSoft: Here, a crown that will prevent hollowing, you deserve it.
Also FromSoft: You can only get it when you finished everything including the DLC and oh, you can't bring this one on NG+.
Again FromSoft: Ohh, you know what you still have Sir Alonne, we made the stage just before fighting him a little difficult, good luck!

I've been standing next to a curse jar for about a minute or two, and so far no curse damage whilst wearing this crown with the reinforcement. So I guess it makes you immune to curse.

Oh my, you have to do the dlc and kill vendrick therefore get at least 4 giant souls which is literally endgame so you will not hollow for the current NG cycle? That is SO usefull! Thank you FromSoftware :)

In the room with the king's soul there's a small pathway to the left with the king's crown and armor in a chest at the end

Getting the reinforced item is pretty pointless. In order to get it, the only bosses you don't have to have killed yet are the final three inside Drangleic Castle (and they're all in the same room in the same encounter) and the Ancient Dragon. I mean... what else is there? And it loses the reinforcement when you NG.

requires 14 strength and 12 dex
yes the requirement matters if you don't meet it your roll distance is reduced

                            FAQs

Is Vendrick weak to anything? ›

Weaknesses. The King seems to be fairly resistant to all elements, although lightning and dark add slightly more damage (20-25%). The only way to inflict damage significantly against Vendrick is to collect Souls of a Giant.

What to do after getting all the crowns ds2? ›

Well, once you have obtained all three DLC crowns and the Kings Crown, head back to the Undead Crypt. Once there, enter the area where King Vendrick waits. Interact with his clothing to enter his memory and speak with him. After doing so, you will get a message that a strong heat has returned to the crowns.

                            Is King Vendrick optional? ›

Vendrick is an optional boss in Dark Souls 2. Encountered shortly after the Royal Aegis Velstadt boss fight, he walks in a circle in the Undead Crypt, moaning until the player deals enough damage to him.

What crown stops hollowing ds2? ›

Upon obtaining all three DLC-related crowns and Vendrick's crown, a special ability is granted by speaking to Vendrick in the Undead Crypt: the ability prevents the player character from hollowing upon death if any of the crowns was worn, much like the Ring of Life Protection.

What is the point of killing Vendrick? ›

killing vendrick unlock's another final boss; so if you haven't killed the throne watcher or the throne defender before killing the giant lord then you're in for 3 back-to-back-to-back boss fights. That's a negative consequence.

What does Vendrick give you? ›

In the cut scene Vendrick appears to infuse the crown your character is holding with a new power. This gives a new bonus to the King's Crown and the 3 DLC crowns where, if worn, the player can no longer hollow or be cursed, similar to if they were wearing a Ring of Life Protection.

What to do after beating Vendrick ds2? ›

After defeating King Vendrick, go to the 2 bonfire in Shrine of Amana. Near the bonfire are some vines that you can chop down. Behind the vines is a door, and you must be human to open it. Inside the door is the throne chair with the Soul of the King on it and also Vendricks armor is in the room.

Can you continue after final boss ds2? ›

Yes, you can. What will end up happening is you select to enter NG+ at the Majula bonfire when you are ready. You can keep playing. You only enter NG+ once you choose the option in the bonfire at Majula.

Should I fight Vendrick before Nashandra? ›

In order to face him as an encounter, you must have defeated Vendrick before you fight Nashandra, who can be considered the former “final boss” of the base game's story. If you don't kill Vendrick first, you won't get to see the new boss — period. You'll have to replay the game to find Aldia.

What did Nashandra do to Vendrick? ›

Disguising herself as an extremely beautiful woman, Nashandra approached the land's King and enchanted him with her looks. The Japanese description for Vendrick's sword and shield notes that she successfully “possessed “ him like a demon, making him do whatever she desired he do.

What is the best weapon for Vendrick? ›

Any katana will do. Almost all of them have higher counter damage that the rapiers and they're slashing swords, which gives them wider hitboxes. Stay at his feet and counter attack when he swings.

What's the point of reversing hollowing? ›

Reversing hollowing is required to kindle bonfires, where you use another humanity and boost the amount of Estus for that bonfire forever. It also enables co-op and allows you to summon NPCs and players.

Why should I reverse hollowing? ›

There are certain points in the game where you want to be human (reverse hollowing) so you can be invaded by an NPC enemy. You kill that enemy and get nice loot. This will happen several times throughout the game. There are also times when you can summon an NPC or/and human players to help you fight bosses.

Is hollowing ds3 or not? ›

Otherwise, there are no negative effects, unless you decide to reverse the hollowing which will take quite a lot of souls. Being fully hollow allows you to complete Yoel of Londor's questline, gaining five free levels every journey, and allows you to summon NPC phantoms like the Londor Pale Shade for some fights.

                            Why can't I hurt Vendrick? ›

This is exactly the problem that is occuring. Attempting to fight Vendrick without Giant Souls will have you doing so little damage, that he won't even appropriately aggro into combat.

What to do after killing King Vendrick?
