The Merpeople, also known as Water Spirits in ancient tales, are legendary creatures with fish-like tails from the waist-down. They are also known as the legends of which go back more than three thousand years ago.

Merpeople were one of the races of the Magical World. They are humanoids who are distinguished by the tails of fish. One of these mermaids knew the Architect intimately.

  • Merpeople are the theme of H2O:Just Add Water and Mako: Island of Secrets, a franchise of television series which were created by Jonathan M. Shiff prior to his work on The Bureau of Magical Things.
    • In fact, the costume for Imogen is from said series, just refitting for her frame.
  • As for now, only mermaids had appeared on the show. There had no been a confirmed appearance of a merman, who, as we know so far, had been banished to be raised on land in the care of foster human families, and could be involved with the supernatural world of other supernatural life-forms.
  • It was unknown if the unidentified friend of the Architect was a human-turned or a natural-born mermaid, and to which pod she could likely belong.
