Bengaluru-based mathematician and author of math textbooks KV Narayana has listed out a few mathematical properties of the year 2022 as we ring in the New Year.
The 69-year old retired teacher holds a PhD in Number Theory & is engaged in post-doctoral research in the subject.
The sum of digits in the year six (2+0+2+2=6) is a perfect number. A perfect number is the one which is equal to the sum of its divisors (1+2+3). (Other examples of a perfect number are: 28, 496, and 8128 etc.)
According to philosophy, God created the world in six days and God created humans on the sixth day.
Each digit in 2022 is an even number, both zero and two are even numbers. The same pattern will occur after a thousand years: 3033.
The New Year can be expressed as a sum of four squares. 2022= 12+22+92+442.
The year can also be expressed as: 22+62+222+2622=2x6x22x262=69,168. That is, the sum of squares of the number is equal to the product of the same numbers.
The number 2022 can also be expressed as a sum of powers of 2 as follows: 2022=21+22+25+26+27+28+29+210
The calendar of the year 2022 is exactly the same as the year 2011 and the year 2033. It is a non-leap year beginning and ending on a Saturday.
The New Year can be expressed as a sum of two millennia, two decades and two years. 2022=1000+1000+2.
FAQs
There are four basic properties of numbers: commutative, associative, distributive, and identity.
Why do people say 2 plus 2 equals 5? ›
2 + 2 = 5 or two plus two equals five is a mathematical falsehood which is used as an example of a simple logical error that is obvious to anyone familiar with basic arithmetic. Two Plus Two Make Five (1895), by Alphonse Allais, is a collection of absurdist short stories about anti-intellectualism as politics.
What are the four properties of math with examples? ›
Let A , B , C are three integers.
- Commutative property : A + B = B + A. A . B = B . A.
- Associative property : A + ( B + C ) = ( A + B ) + C. A . ( B . C ) = ( A . B ) . C.
- Distributive property : A . ( B + C ) = A . B + A . C.
- Identity property :
What is the pattern of 1 4 9 16 25? ›
Square Number Pattern
Square numbers are, therefore, squares of any number. An example of a square number pattern is 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36… Here, the squares of consecutive numbers from 1 to 6 form the number pattern.
What are the four main properties of real numbers? ›
The basic properties of real numbers include the following:
- The Closure Property.
- The Commutative Property.
- The Associative Property.
- The Distributive Property.
How many 2s make 12? ›
There are 6 {2's} in 12.
What is a property or rule in math? ›
The properties of math are the rules governing the relationship and interaction of numbers with each other. There are four basic properties: commutative, associative, distributive, and identity.
What are the four types of basic math? ›
The four basic operations in mathematics are addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Addition is combining values to find a total, subtraction is finding the difference between values, multiplication is serial addition, and division is splitting a number into equal groups.
What property is a 0 a? ›
Solution: According to the additive identity property, a + 0 = 0 + a = a, where a is any number.
What is the mode of numbers 2, 3, 4, 4, 3, 5, 3, 6? ›
The correct answer is 3.
Informally: When you multiply an integer (a “whole” number, positive, negative or zero) times itself, the resulting product is called a square number, or a perfect square or simply “a square.” So, 0, 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49, 64, 81, 100, 121, 144, and so on, are all square numbers.
What is the reasoning behind 1 4 9 16 25 36? ›
What is next number in this sequence 1, 4, 9, 16, 25? 1, 4, 9, 16, 25 is the sequence of the squares of the natural numbers. Therefore, 6^2 = 36 will be the next number in the sequence.
What are the 21 properties of real numbers? ›
The properties of real numbers have total 21 properties :
- distributive property.
- commutative property of addition.
- commutative property of multiplication.
- associative property of addition.
- associative property of multiplication.
- additive identity property.
- multipicative identity property.
- additive inverse property.
What are number 4 properties? ›
4 is a highly composite number, because it has more divisors than any smaller number. 4 is a superabundant number, because it has a larger abundancy index than any smaller number. 4 is the 2-nd square number.
What are the properties of the number 12? ›
Mathematical properties. 12 is the sixth composite number and the superfactorial of 3. It is the fourth pronic number (equal to 3 × 4), whose digits in decimal are also successive.
What are the properties of factors of numbers? ›
Properties of Factors
Every natural number is a factor of itself. Apart from 0 and 1, all the whole numbers have at least two factors. Every factor is less than or equal to the given number. The number of factors of a given number is finite.
