The remains of Salvador Agustin Fonseca, 30, of Springfield, Missouri, were found on March 20, according to a news release. An employee of a real estate company found the skeletal remains in an area near Hamburg while scouting the property for deer.
Law enforcement went to the scene and also found a gym pass and the keys to a 2015 Chevrolet Spark vehicle.
Police previously found a 2015 Chevrolet Spark on a northbound section of Interstate 29 on March 6, 2022. Officers had traced the vehicle back to Fonseca, who was last seen in Springfield, Missouri, on Feb. 28, 2022, the release said. He left his last known address without telling others where he was going.
Police do not know why Fonseca stopped the car on the interstate but it appears he walked west toward the Missouri River, the release said.
Police do not suspect foul play, though further information was not immediately available.
