These humbuckers rock out and never wash out

The Larry Carlton Modern humbuckers in this signature electric guitar have been wired to deliver tone that is versatile and classic sounding — just how Larry likes it! The humbucker in the neck position stays creamy and warm even when driven hard; the humbucker in the bridge position is full of bite, without the shrill or ice-pick tone that some humbuckers can slide into — especially when grit and crunch are added. Shape your tone with the two volume controls, two tone controls, and a 3-way toggle, and feast your eyes on the vintage-inspired brown top hat knobs while you do! This pickup duo delivers everything from hard-hitting to softly strummed chords, from finessed jazz runs to rocking riffs. Simply put, Mr. Carlton would only give his stamp of approval on pickups that represent his own versatility of style — a versatility that led him to play on a seemingly countless number of artists’ albums and singles.

I LOVE THIS GUITAR SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN STAND IT!

I just bought the Sire L7 Larry Carlton Gold Top. What a cool and fantastic guitar! Although I'm still a beginner, this was my 4th guitar purchase from Sweetwater. First was the Squire Classic Vibe 70s in walnut. Then the ESP LTD EC-1000 in See-through Purple. Then the Kramer 84 in matte white, and now the L7. Although a great guitar, the ESP didn't inspire me to pick it up and play so I sold it to purchase this guitar – what a great decision. This L7 Gold Top is beautiful. It feels great to play and sounds incredible. It arrived on time, as expected, and ready to play out of the box with no issues whatsoever. It's a bit heavy compared to the other guitars I have at about 9lbs 3oz, but it feels solid – well built. The Sweetwater photos are a bit misleading since they make it look a bit more like a washed out yellow. However, in person this color is beautiful – just like in some online videos I'd seen. Check out the attached photos. I think this guitar is incredible value, and I highly recommend it!!!

Thanks once again to Camden whose been the best Sales Engineer that one could have. I by the way, I only shop at Sweetwater...

AWESOME GUITAR - I LOVE IT SO MUCH I CAN'T STAND IT...

I'm a beginner, but this is now my 4th guitar. I wanted a Les Paul cut but had no interest in a Gibson, so I bought an ESP LTD EC-1000 See-through Purple. It was a great guitar but just didn't inspire me to pick it up and play it. I was sold on an Epiphone Standard to replace it until I compared those guitars with the Sire L7s which had more features for $ less. Furthermore, the online reviews of this guitar were outstanding. So, I sold the ESP LTD to buy this guitar and couldn't have made a better decision. This guitar is beautiful, and it feels great to play. The color isn't at all like the Sweetwater photos which make it look a bit washed out. The color is a stunning metallic gold, lighter or darker depending on the lighting of course. It runs a bit heavy at about 9lbs, 3oz but feels solid and well-built – I like it. The satin neck is smooth, and the high-end features make this guitar a steal for $.
Thanks, once again to Camden, whose customer service has been unparalleled. And, the guitar arrived on time, packaged well, as described, and ready to rock.

Excellent guitar

I bought a demo version of this, other than a minor nick near the binding, it's perfect. This is a great player and sounds excellent. The neck is substantial but really comfortable and easy to play. The stock pickups sound really good and the electronics feel like they're good quality. Zack McCord at Sweetwater always takes care of my orders and does a fantastic job of it. This guitar arrived perfectly setup and ready to play. Here's a tune I did to test it out.

Very good guitar, especially for the money.

Sire goes two for two with this one!

I've had my L7 for a few days now, and I'm still impressed with the quality of the instrument. I purchased it after being blown away with my first Sire, an S7V. This L7 does not disappoint, and now I understand why they are in such high demand. I have owned real USA Gibsons and many other top shelf guitars. After a time of pruning and downsizing my collection, I wanted to maintain some more "affordable" staples while I invested more heavily in a few more niche guitars for my main weekly use in ministry. So having a Strat and a LP are a must for the classic tunes I like to play at home on my own time. What strikes me about this guitar is the overall build quality. It is shocking how amazing the fit and finish is. And the satin neck is unique for an otherwise glossy LP, but I love satin necks and this one is amazing. Fantastic fret work, comfortable rolled fingerboard edges and decently playable out of the box. After I adjusted the truss rod a bit and dropped the bridge, the playability is amazing. And surprisingly I have not had to touch the intonation. Very rare on a guitar in this price range.

One thing should be noted: the pickups on this are very low output. I believe that is by design, but, even by vintage PAF standards they seem lower than I expected. They are balanced and articulate however and sound wonderful, and they react very well to stacking your gain stages. EQ, boost, compression, overdrives etc.

When I play this guitar, I feel like I am playing a very high end Gibson clone. Not a Gibson, rather something more modern and refined (think the high end Japanese makers). It is a great combination of what people want in classic Les Paul and what we expect and demand from modern materials and construction. What a wonderful guitar. Oh, and the pics don't do it justice. It is stunning in person and pays very credible homage to the venerable gold top LP.
