Sire Larry Carlton S7 Electric Guitar in Antique White - Andertons Music Co. (2024)

Following up the superb bass collaboration with Marcus Miller, Sire have partnered with jazz fusion legend Larry Carlton to bring you their take on the iconic S-style — the S7. Sire instruments boast high-end specs at tempting prices, and it's business as usual with the S7, which features a roasted Maple neck, an 'Edgeless' rolled-edge fretboard and flexible Super-ST pickups suited to Larry Carlton's tonal preferences.

"Quite aside from carrying the signature of one of the most respected session guitarists in history, these instruments are from the same stable as the Marcus Miller basses, whose sound-per-pound quality has made them something of a phenomenon in the four-string world." — guitar.com

Premium Construction

The S7 combines both modern design construction with familiarly classy style. It's made up of an Alder body with a bolt-on roasted hard Maple neck. Sire are masters of the roasting technique, otherwise known as "baking", which rids the wood of imperfections and makes it incredibly resilient over years of use.

On top is a matching 9.5-inch radius roasted Maple fretboard adorned with medium jumbo frets; giving the S7 a luxurious, contemporary playing feel. Add in the gloriously-silky rolled fretboard edges, and you've got a guitar that plays like it should be four times the price!

High-Quality Hardware

Hardware on the S7 is of an incredibly high standard. The premium locking tuners keep the guitar as precise as can be, even when using the Modern tremolo bridge for flutters and big divebombs. This is also thanks in part to the traditional bone nut, which is a low-friction material that allows the strings to smoothly glide and accurately return to pitch.

Stellar Sire Sound

Sire created the Super-ST pickup set to meet Larry Carlton's high tonal standards. They deliver on outstanding clarity and treble-heavy sparkle. The H/S/S configuration is arguably the most versatile of pickup layouts. That means the Sire S7 can access dynamic cleans and lead tones at the neck, and crunchy rhythm in the bridge position. Mix in the middle single-coil to get nuanced, characterful variations. You can also engage a coil-tap function (via the push/push volume knob) to attain a single-coil style sound from the bridge humbucker.

"Keep everything wide open on the S7 and it does exactly what you’d want it to do: offering up clear and well-balanced Stratty tones with a nice bit of extra oomph from the humbucker. Played clean, all three pickups are perky and brisk, with loads of phasey quack in both in-between positions... give it some mid-gain overdrive to play with and this guitar really finds its true voice." — guitar.com
