The Dust is one of the main 27 locations in Pandora. This location can be accessed through Eridium Blight, The Highlands, Lynchwood, Three Horns - Valley and fast travel stations. The Dust is a desert wasteland where you can interact with Ellie as well as build a Bandit Technical. The primary way to traverse The Dust is in a technical. Fortunately, if you lose a technical in the vastness of The Dust there are nine Catch-a-Ride Stations.

Vault Symbols: 3
There are three vault symbols hidden in The Dust. The first vault symbol is on top and behind the large cylinder in Moonshiner's Shack. The second is just outside the wall of Hodunk Speedway near the smaller bridge. The final vault symbol can be found underneath the westmost buzzard landing pad in this area.
Points of Interest
Ellie's Garage
From the fast travel station in The Dust you will be in Ellie's Garage. In this area there are two vending machines (ammo and health) as well as a Catch-a-Ride station in which you can deploy vehicles.
Bug Gulch

Just north of Ellie's Garage will take you to Bug Gulch. Bug Gulch is a narrow valley filled with a variety of spiderants. Here you will find a small shack with basic loot such as health and ammo.
While progressing through the valley you will come to a fork in the road near a respawn point. If you take the right or forward paths be prepared for a fight with spiderants, bandits, and goliaths. In the few bandit buildings here, there isn't much to be explored but it could be a useful area to get the trophy/achievement "Goliath, Meet David". There is also a chance that the unique spiderant The Black Queen may spawn, and an even rarer chance that when killed, will drop the legendary weapon "Nukem".
Boot Hill
Continuing left of the fork in the road will take you to Boot Hill which consists of a church with a graveyard just in front of it. This is the setting for the final fight in the side quest "The Good, The Bad, and the Mordecai". Once this mission is completed, players can still return to fight Mobley and Gettle again and again.
Old Dahlwell Oasis
Just south of the Friendship Gulag is the Old Dahlwell Oasis. The oasis seems to have been covered in the sands of The Dust for quite some time. The oasis is pretty much deserted however it has a respawn point, a Catch-a-Ride station, two vending machines (ammo and health), and a slot machine.
The slot machine and two vending machines are in a little shack in the south of the oasis. Be prepared before entering the shack because goliaths will spawn inside.

Cara-Van
The Cara-Van is a large van with a loot chest on top guarded by two Cara-Van Escorts. The cara-van leader announces when they are close and state that they are carrying loot for the Hodunk clan. The Cara-Van travels along the main road seen in The Dust Mapfrom east to west.
To obtain the loot on top of the Cara-Van, players must first destroy the two Cara-Van Escorts. These can be easily destroyed while in a technical firing both guns. To make matters a bit simpler, you may want to only take on one at a time. Be warned: if you lead an escort too far from the Cara-Van and destroy it, the Cara-Van will not stop for you. After destroying the escort you can hop onto the back of the Cara-Van and open the loot chest. It'll drive away if you wait too long.
Moonshiner's Shack
The_Dust_07.JPG
Moonshiner's shack is just southwest of Old Dahlwell Oasis. There are a few bandits and goliaths here so be prepared. The only noteworthy thing here is the vault symbol mentioned above.
Hodunk Speedway
The_Dust_12.JPG
As the name suggests, this is the Hodunk Speedway. The trailer park here is where the Hodunk clan lives. The only area worthy of note here is the actual speedway where you can race to beat the set time for a badass rank. There is also a Vault Symbol mentioned above.

Goose's Roost
The_Dust_14.JPG
Another area of note in Goose's Roost. Goose's Roost is the highest elevated point in The Dust and is easily accessed by ramping off the largest drivable peak in the location. This is another area in which players can try for the "Goliath, Meet David" trophy/achievement. Once in Goose's Roost, it can be difficult to maneuver your technical back out into The Dust but it is possible. There isn't much else to do in this buzzard base camp other than fighting bandits and goliaths. The final Vault Symbol is here detailed in the above section.
MCNALLY'S COTTAGE
The_Dust_06.JPG
This little cottage is located south of the Catch-a-Ride near Goose's Roost The player will arrive here by progressing through the side quest "The Bane".McNallyis in this cottage and weilds a hatchet. Killing him may produce a legendary weapon called Hammerbuster.
