The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild guide: Unbreakable weapons (2024)

Are there unbreakable weapons in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? Not exactly —unless you count three weapons and one shield. They aren’t unbreakable, exactly, but they are unique in that you can always get a new one. Let us explain.

The Master sword

The Master Sword breaks, but it doesn’t break like any other weapon in Breath of the Wild. Instead, its power drains. After several minutes, you can use it again. If you’re looking for the Master Sword, check out our guide.

The Hylian Shield

The Hylian Shield is the best shield in Breath of the Wild, which is probably why it’s so difficult to get. You’ll need to venture into Hyrule Castle and defeat a Stalnox. (You can see how to do that in our guide.)

We found out the hard way that the Hylian shield can break, though it takes a heck of a beating before it does. If that happens, you won’t find it again in the castle. Instead, you can buy it from the hidden merchant, Granté, in Tarrey Town. Before you can find him, however, you’ll need to complete Breath of the Wild’s "From the Ground Up" side quest.

The Ceremonial trident

You can get the Ceremonial Trident through Breath of the Wild’s "The Ceremonial Song" shrine quest (Dagah Keek shrine) in Zora’s Domain. If you break, lose or drop it, just visit Dento (he’s next to Ne'ez Yohma shrine in Zora’s Domain). He needs a Zora Spear and five pieces of flint, and he'll forge you a Ceremonial Trident.

The Lightscale Trident

You get the Lightscale Trident after defeating Breath of the Wild’s Divine Beast Vah Ruta. If you break, lose or drop the Lightscale Trident, just visit Dento (he’s next to Ne'ez Yohma shrine in Zora’s Domain). He needs a Zora Spear, a diamond and five pieces of flint, and he'll forge the Lightscale Trident anew.
