  • Physical education teacher Sandy Zimmerman made history on American Ninja Warrior.
  • At 42-years-old, Sandy is the oldest woman and the first mom to ever complete the obstacle course.

Prepare to ugly cry: Sandy Zimmerman is the first mom and the oldest woman to ever complete the American Ninja Warrior obstacle course.

The 42-year-old made history on Monday night during the Seattle/Tacoma qualifiers, and to say her journey to victory was emotional is an understatement. Sandy had competed on the show twice before, in Los Angeles during seasons 8 and 9. But she had never made it to the second obstacle, according to The Spokesman-Review.

This time, though, the mom of three swung through the “Lunatic Ledges” and the “Barrell Roll” with ease, impressing both the crowd and her family, which includes husband, Charlie, and her three kids, Blake, Lindsey, and Brett, who have all competed in the Ninja franchise.

Everyone was on the edge of their seats when she arrived at the Warped Wall, where she had to make two attempts before landing at the top. PSA: This is where you want to grab the tissues, because her shouting “The first mom!” and hitting the buzzer will bring a flood of tears to your eyes.

Sandy had a ton of supporters from the Washington community cheering her on, as even the host said, “She’s a beloved figure here in the Northwest, so many have trained at her backyard course.” However, she had plethora of fans at home who called her a “hero” and “TOTALLY INSPIRATIONAL.”

“I wanna hit that buzzer for all the moms out there, not just for me, but I feel like it’s a ‘we,’” she said before mastering the course. “We so often put everything for us on the back burner.” Once more for the people in the back!

Sandy will appear in the Seattle/Tacoma finals, which air on August 12, and it’s safe to say she has plenty of viewers on her side.
