Can I walk in for TSA PreCheck without an appointment? ›

Visit tsa.gov/precheck to select the enrollment provider that best meets your needs and has an enrollment location near you. You can pre-enroll online and make an appointment for the in-person process, or walk-in to an enrollment center without an appointment.

Is TSA PreCheck Free for Seniors? TSA PreCheck is not free for seniors and there are no senior discounts applicable to the $78 application fee.

The fastest and easiest way to enroll in TSA PreCheck® is to start the application online. You do not need to get TSA PreCheck® if you already have Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, or hold an active TWIC® or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an HME.

The appointment shouldn't take more than 10 minutes, but you could wait longer than usual if it's crowded. During the in-person appointment, an agent will take your fingerprints and ask some questions concerning the application — such as whether you've gone by other names in the past or how often you travel.

With TSA Precheck, senior citizens and other participants move through the security checkpoint much faster. The wait is usually five minutes or less, which is a huge time-saver for travel with elderly parents. Participants don't have to remove their shoes, light jackets, laptops, liquids or belts.

Passengers 75 and older can receive some form of expedited screening through risk-based intelligence-driven security that allows TSA to better focus resources on passengers who more likely pose a risk. You may leave on your shoes however; removal of light jackets is required for Advanced Imaging Technology screening.

Children 13-17 may access the TSA PreCheck lanes if they have a TSA PreCheck logo on their boarding pass. To be eligible to receive the TSA PreCheck logo on their boarding pass, the passenger between the ages of 13 and 17 must be on the same airline reservation with a TSA PreCheck-eligible parent or guardian.

Only AAA members can access TSA PreCheck^® services at branches. Additional locations will continue to be added. AAA Northeast has partnered with IDEMIA, an authorized TSA PreCheck^® enrollment provider, to offer this service.

How long is TSA PreCheck taking right now? ›

How do I know when I'm approved for TSA PreCheck®? Most applicants receive their Known Traveler Number (KTN) in 3-5 days, though some applications can take up to 60 days.

Clear allows you to skip the security line completely because instead of waiting in line, you approach a Clear kiosk where your ID and boarding pass are verified through biometric technology. Once that quick process is complete, a Clear agent escorts you right to the front of security.

To apply, applicants simply complete a TSA Precheck application online at tsa.gov or at an enrollment center. All candidates must schedule a visit to an enrollment center for a short interview and show proof of identity, citizenship and submit their fingerprints.

Most applicants receive approval notification in 3-5 days, though some applications can take up to 60 days. Considering this, applicants are encouraged to renew at least 60 days prior to expiry. TSA will notify members with eligibility results.

TSA PreCheck® hours may differ from regular store hours. Walk in and receive 2 government-compliant 2” x 2” photos for your Passport, Travel Visa or ID badge.

The TSA PreCheck program is only open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents. Travelers interested in TSA PreCheck must apply online for pre-approval.
