Do people party at West Point? ›

Party Scene

Lots of options Wednesday-Saturday. Good parties are few and far between.

Although the United States Military Academy at West Point has the appearance of any long-established eastern university, it maintains an exceptionally safe security environment, without barrier fencing or high-technology intrusion detectors.

These options — service academies, senior military colleges and maritime academies — offer world-class education and a deeper understanding of military culture. In addition, these schools grant full tuition in exchange for a period of service commitment.

At West Point, you don't learn about empathy and how critical a role it plays in being a good leader. You don't learn how to really listen to others and communicate your feelings. You don't learn about self care. West Point isn't your typical college experience.

The following are requirements for candidates applying to USMA at West Point: Be between 17 and 22 years old on July 1 of the year admitted. Be a U.S. citizen. You cannot be married.

cadets. (1) Cadets may not date or engage in an overly familiar relationship with United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS) Cadet Candidates.

At the beginning of their junior year, West Point cadets take an oath committing themselves to fulfill this service obligation. Before doing so, cadets may leave West Point for whatever reason without incurring a service obligation from their time at West Point.

As the nation's first military academy, West Point prepares young men and women to become officers in the U.S. Army. Cadets attend the academy for four years, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission as a second lieutenant.

Military junior colleges are the easiest to get into. Your academics don't need to be as good as for senior military colleges. But, make sure you meet the minimum GPA and test scores and can pass your fitness and health tests. If you are applying to Early Commision Programs, you might need to have stronger academics.

Modern military schools are evolving to reflect a more inclusive and diverse environment, welcoming young women who wish to pursue academic, athletic, and leadership excellence. Indeed, this trend gives middle- and high-school girls access to the same successful path their male counterparts have.

1st Class are Seniors (aka Firsties), 2nd Class are Juniors (aka Cows), 3rd Class are Sophmores (aka Yearlings or Yuks), 4th Class are. Freshman (aka Plebes) 100th night. One of the numerous formal cadet.

The West Point Experience

West Point challenges cadets to become the best versions of themselves. Through a 47-month experience, cadets are exposed to academic, military, and physical opportunities that develop them into leaders of character.

With prior approval from the Brigade Tactical Officer (BTO), alcoholic beverages are authorized to be served at on-post social functions involving only First and Second-Class Cadets. Only authorized Cadets who are at least twenty-one years of age and have completed 2151 Birthday Training may consume alcohol.

According to academy policy, students must undergo a training called the “21st Birthday Dinner” prior to being permitted to consume alcohol. Cadet Privates of legal age can only consume alcohol when using a pass or leave and cannot drink at the West Point Military Reservation.

Clubs & Activities

At West Point, cadets have the opportunity to participate in 130 different extracurricular activities - contributing to their develoment into well rounded leaders of character.

After classes, all West Point cadets participate in some form of athletic activity, be it an intramural, club, or NCAA Division I team. Intramural sports are taken pretty seriously, as companies compete to be the West Point champion in each sport.
