STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Staten Island residents are ranked among the wealthiest in New York State, according to a study conducted by SmartAsset.com.

The study looked at counties throughout New York on the amount of investment income being generated, local per capita income, and median home value.

Manhattan took the top spot as the wealthiest county in New York, where the average per capita investment income is $69,555; the median home value is listed as $1,306,208, and the average per capita income is $191,220, according to the study.

Westchester is ranked second, followed by Nassau, Brooklyn, Queens, and Richmond County in the sixth spot.

Staten Island (Richmond County), according to the study, has a wealth index of 29.16, a median home value of $678,978. The average per capita income for Staten Island residents is as $62,558.

Staten Island is followed by Suffolk, Rockland, Putnam, and Saratoga counties rounding out the top ten overall wealthiest counties in New York.

Richmond County ranked 40th in per capita investment income and fourth in median home value in New York, according to the study.
