Oh no—time is of the essence! Your spare is underneath the floor, in the space between the second and third row seats.
To access the tire, you’ll have to take up the floor mat to expose a tab, which you’ll then use to lift out part of the carpeting. Underneath the floor lid, you should then see the small spare tire or donut.
Once you’ve gotten the spare tire out, here are some steps to follow:
- Put on your hazard lights (AKA flashers) if you haven’t already done so.
- Retrieve your Odyssey’s lug wrench and jack as well as wheel chocks/wedges, if you have them.
- Put on the parking brake so that the Odyssey won’t roll.
- Use wheel chocks or wedges behind tires to further secure your vehicle.
- Remove the flat tire’s hubcap or wheel cover.
- Loosen up the lug nuts with the lug wrench.
- Place the jack near the flat tire, underneath the Odyssey’s frame.
- Raise the Odyssey with the jack.
- Unscrew the lug nuts.
- Remove the flat tire, and set it on its side. You don’t want it to roll into the road.
- Mount the spare tire and tighten the lugs by hand.
- Use the jack to lower the Odyssey so the spare is just touching the ground—and now tighten the lug nuts some more. Place the** full weight of your body on the lug wrench**.
- Lower the Odyssey all the way. Tighten the lugs some more.
When driving home or to a service station, do not go over 50 MPH or drive further than 70 miles—maximum—on the donut.
