What is a good counter to Zacian? ›

Zacian is weak against - Poison and steel-types. Zacian counters - Beedrill, Victreebel, Roserade, Nihilego and Overqwil for poison-types. Metagross, Dialga, Excadrill and Genesect for steel-types.

Zacian is a Fairy/Steel-type, so your absolute best counter will be a strong Fire-type or Ground-type Pokemon. Watch out for its Behemoth Blade because it can deal some serious damage, but otherwise this fight isn't particularly tough.

The best Pokemon Go Zacian - Crowned Sword counters are Primal Groudon, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Blaziken, Mega Garchomp, Shadow Groudon & Reshiram.

Checks and Counters

Quagsire: Quagsire is a good check to Zacian due to its typing and Unaware ignoring Intrepid Sword's boost. Quagsire can also cripple it using Toxic or Scald.

As far as I know, (which admittedly intended a lot about competitive Pokémon) Primal Groudon seems like the perfect counter to Zacian since P-Groudon resists both of Zacian's stabs and can hit it back with either of its STABs.

Eternatus nearly destroyed the Galar region absorbing all the energy on its path, until it was defeated by Zacian and Zamazenta, who used their powerful sword and shield to fend off the dangerous alien.

Theres no counter for zacian you can only revenge kill it with ditto or excadrill sand rush, or setupping a sweeper before it enters the field.

In Singles: defensive Zapdos with Static and Rocky Helmet. Or the already mentioned Unaware Quagsire. Focus Sash Venusaur with Weather Ball next to Groudon always seems to work out unless the Zacian is positioned exactly right. Preferably with an Incineroar to Intimidate+Parting Shot and pressure Fake Out.

Faster Revenge Killers: Faster revenge killers such as Calyrex-S, Choice Scarf Kyogre, and offensive Eternatus can outspeed and KO Zacian-C with their STAB or coverage moves, easily forcing it out.

Who will win Zamazenta or Zacian? ›

The general consensus is that Zacian is the better one: -its Inteprid Sword ability gives it +1 Attack when it enters battle. -Zacian gets Swords Dance to boost its Attack further while Zamazenta doesn't.

The Fairy/Steel type with Zacian is a great advantage over the Fighting/Steel of Zamazenta. Zamazenta has 3 weaknesses to worry about with Fire, Fighting, and Ground-type moves, while Zacian would only have to worry about two weaknesses Fire and Ground. Meaning Zacian's type neutralizes Fairy's weaknesses.

It's the sad truth: the box legendaries, Zacian and Zamazenta that encouraged every player to buy Pokemon Sword and Shield cannot be shiny, at least not currently. Perhaps once they become obtainable through other methods, shiny hunters will rejoice. But for now, it's just not in the cards (or the code.)

Taking the competitive environment (Smogon 6v6) as a context, Zacian is ranked # 8 among Pokemon with the highest BST (Base Stat Total). But with its ability, Intrepid Sword, it becomes the Pokemon with the most stats just upon entering the battlefield, with a total of 805.

As a Fairy-type Pokémon, Zacian is vulnerable to Poison- and Steel-type attacks. When selecting Pokémon for your Zacian Raid Battle lineup, it helps to choose Pokémon that have a Fast Attack and a Charged Attack of one of these types if you want to deal as much damage as possible.

With a pure Fairy typing, Zacian is boosted by Cloudy weather and its counters include strong Steel and Poison type Pokémon such as Metagross, Dialga, Gengar and mega evolutions like Mega Gengar and Mega Beedrill.
