They are adult books, not YA books. Violent things happen, people do have sex, but it is at more of a PG-13 level than an R level. and it doesn't leave me feeling desensitized to both.
There may be too much going on for them as in the plot and/or the characters. There are no cursing but there are topics such as "sleeping with skaa women" and then killing them. It also, talks about other sensitive topics, and I would say one should be at least 13/14 yrs. old to read.
This book was great and I loved it so much. Most of the people say it's for kids over the age of 13 but I think it's fine for 11+ years old. It does have a little swearing and some 18+ scenes but I think it's fine.
Throne of Glass is fantastic, and I recommend it to all high fantasy lovers. I think it's better for older teens and adult readers due to the adult content in later books. Plus, there is a war that gets pretty gruesome at points.
What age are the Wings of Fire books appropriate for? The series is certainly one for lovers of action, adventure and fantasy. I would suggest they will be most enjoyable for reasonably confident readers from 10 years of age, possibly 9 years if you child is okay with violence and other sensitive content (see above).
Definitely would recommend for a mature 10/11 year old, and it's a great start to get into read dystopian-type kind of novels! Although, as I said before, the book does progress in the romance and violence levels as it continues, so keep that in mind!
Long story short, I wasn't always a very good reader, and longer books still intimidate me. I've pushed through ASOIAF but have found the third-fifth books very difficult, including having yet to finish ADWD.
What age is Level 3 reading for?
Level 3. Recommended reading age 4 - 5 years. Children are beginning to read more varied sentence structures and taking some note of punctuation.
Elementary Level: Children ages 8 to 12, or 4th through 6th grades. These children read sentences of approximately 10 words, with the maximum number of words being 20. Most books written at this level range between 20,000 and 40,000 words.
Content Warning: While relatively light in possibly offensive content for Christians in comparison to other fantasy titles, this book does have some things that might cause you to decide against buying it.

So, at the end of book one, the Lord Ruler dies and the Skaa are freed. Yay! Also, Vin is quickly becoming the most powerful Mistborn ever (and keeps getting more powerful throughout the next two books, until she's really pushing into Mary Sue territory), and she and Elend are in love. Happy ending all around.
The story scythe teaches about life and death and really does make children and adults think about our population control and our future. There are many sciences of messy deaths and some errie pages of the “scythes” who are in other words, the killers. Definitely not for children to young or to sensitive.
Parents need to know that Blue Story is a violent drama about London gangs. It's very violent: Characters are stabbed, shot, hit with bats, punched, and kicked. In some of the more shocking scenes, a character is hit in the head with a brick and later trapped inside a van when it's deliberately set on fire.
The first series in the Shadowhunter Chronicles (City of Bones, City of Ashes, etc.) is a perfect series for young fantasy lovers from 12 years old and up. It has moderate violence, minor swearing, and while the characters are (for the most part) all teenagers, kissing in the most that happens for the first five books.
Representation: bisexual side character in f/f relationship.
I recommend Truly devious for kids aged 10 and up, if they are mature. If children are not ready by the age of ten, you may want to wait until they are 11-12 max. Children (pre teens/tweens) should read this book by a young age, because as they grow this title/book may not be as captivating as it is for tweens now.
Is the love hypothesis appropriate for 14 year olds?
Marcymarie It has 1 very descriptive sex scene. I would not be gifting/recommending this to anyone under the age of 18. But it most likely could be approporiate for some under 18yr olds.
Technically YA novels are generally started by the age of 11 or 12 so you should be fine. Heidi I think it would be considered a "young adult" book, but I will warn you that it does have some adult themes: prostitution, violence, some language, etc.
All in all, it probably is not as bad as some video games out there, but yet not appropriate for young teens. Much of the violence is similar to The Hunger Games with the amount of blood and violence. The real reason why it isn't appropriate for teens, though, is the adult content.
This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years of age due to its use of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and/or violence. Captivating and action-packed, From Blood and Ash is a sexy, addictive, and unexpected fantasy perfect for fans of Sarah J.
With a very inspirational main character, it is quite emotional and a little bit inappropriate... but I personally think any mature 11+ year old would enjoy it.

DOOM, or ANY of the DOOM games is not a good game for children. There's blood. LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF BLOOD! Satanic imagery(I mean, the enemies are literal demons…).
It has a-lot of action but few swear words and the gore isn't too descriptive. I read it in eighth grade when i was like thirteen but i wouldn't be supprized if it was rated YA-14 Honestly though as long as you have been exposed to YA and don't read too much middle-grade stuff you're probably fine.
The book is rated by Scholastic as grade 5.3 and for ages 11-13. Parents' concerns about The Hunger Games center around violence. The book has a lot of it, and it is graphic at times.
Is Mistborn good for beginners?
Mistborn is one of the best fantasy books for beginners because of its engaging plot and fantastic character work.
The Mistborn books were originally written for an adult audience, but the content is as appropriate for teens as Steelheart. They contain fantasy violence. Sexual content: There is nothing onscreen in any of the books.
On average, most kids are able to read independently and fluently by the end of third grade, which is around when they are 9-10 years old. Children at this age are able to read simple sentences and storybooks. By age 11-13, your child should begin to use reading as a learning tool.
Level 1 readers are usually around five or six years old, the age most children begin kindergarten. Unfortunately, there isn't one set of industry standards across publishers that categorizes level 1 reading books.

According to teachers, students should be reading between 15 minutes and 1 hour a day outside of school (85% of teachers expect daily reading in this range), but most of their students are reading less than the 15-minute daily minimum.
The expectation is that the range of reading achievement is likely to be two-thirds of the median chronological age of the group. ie. in a mixed-ability class of 12-year-olds, the reading ages would vary from 8 to 16.
Preservation and Ruin are the two opposing gods of the Mistborn world, Scadrial. They are described as Shards of Adonalsium; fragments of the power of creation.
It's properly themed so that the "action" is not gruesome, or graphic, as both Mistborn and Stormlight Archive can be. I would recommend MINIMUM 15, though it may be sooner depending on your perception of their maturity and English skills.
Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
The Mistborn trilogy is a fun new high fantasy series that combines elements of sci-fi with magic.
Is Mistborn a ya or na?
It is adult. There is a lot of violence and disturbing scenes that younger readers may find disturbing, if not downright traumatizing.
Feature film based on Brandon Sanderson's fantasy book about a crew of rebels with magical abilities that are trying to overthrow a nefarious ruler.
While attending noble balls in the guise of Valette Renoux, Vin falls in love with Elend Venture, a nobleman, and heir to the strongest noble house: House Venture. Elend becomes King at the end of the first book, marries Vin in the second, loses his title of King, and becomes Emperor at the end of the book.

Language is mostly "clean" and although some torture is talked about, it is not explicitly done in "real time". Maybe slightly more explicit than Sanderson, but not overtly so.
Comments: This book is definately for mature readers, and those who are not influenced by what they read. The Drawing of the Three has some of the over-the-top scenes in the series, and should not be read by those under 16.

3 including Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Luke Cage had reviews indicating “severe” sex and nudity. 100% of the countries with certifications on IMDB listed these shows as at the very youngest 13+.
A great book for most ages
This book is great book for ages seven and up. While that said, a seven year old may not understand the context of the book. But this book is a great middle school read or for elementary school kids.
Can a 14 year old watch King of the Hill?
For high school like ages 14 and up.
I would probably not recommend this to middle school students. James C The only factor that might require some age-appropriate concern would be the film's overall powerful emotional impact, particularly that occasioned by the violent and contemptuous treatment of the South African blacks under Apartheit.
Although Venom has some funny one-liners and the tone is light, it also has a lot of violence without real consequences, including torture. In fact, some of the scenes are more like something from a horror movie. This movie deserves its M rating and it isn't recommended for children under 13 years.
Good, but very Violent.
I think if you look away on some violent scenes, I'd say 14+ or 13+. 2 people found this helpful.
This movie is very violent but very good. The actors are great and the scenes can get very emotional and intense. I would not recommend showing this to a child or teenager without an adult present.
OceanSoul Yes, and quite insta-lovey romance at that. However, it doesn't influence the plot as much as it tends to do in other YA novels.
Mistborn happens to have my favorite magic system of all time. Learning about the ins and outs of the first two types of magic, and hints at the third, is one of the main reasons I love The Final Empire so much. Don't be daunted by the fact that there are three different types of magic.
