What does TM and HM stand for?
A Technical Machine, or TM for short, is an item that is used to teach a Pokémon a move. A Hidden Machine, or HM for short, is also an item that is used to teach a Pokémon a move.
HM stands for "Hidden Machine," while TM stands for "Technical Machine." Both play an important role in all core Pokemon games, and HeartGold and SoulSilver are no different. Both machines teach your Pokemon various moves, the name and type of which indicated by the TM or HM in question.
Use the TMs and HMs by accessing them in your inventory. You can only teach certain HMs and TMs to Pokemon based on Type. HMs have the added benefit of giving you special mobility in the field. Teach these to Pokemon in your party and then access them in the pause menu to use them.

The biggest difference between TMs and TRs is the amount of times they can be used. TMs have unlimited use, but TRs can only be used once to teach a move before they break.
Cut (Japanese: いあいぎり Iai Cut) is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation I. It is HM01 in Generations I through VI, and TM93 in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
From Generation I through Generation IV, TMs are single-use items that are consumed after use, with some TMs being available only once per game. From Generation V to Pokémon Sword and Shield, TMs can be used multiple times without being consumed (though single-use alternatives exist in TRs or Move Tutor moves).
How to use TMs. To use a TM, tap on the Pokémon you want to use it on, open the menu, and select “Items.” Then tap on the TM you'd like to use. Normal TMs ask if you're sure that you want to replace the Pokémon's current move with a random one. Elite TMs give you a list of moves to pick from.

TM69 Rock Polish is a Rock-type Status move that raises the user's Speed by two stages. As a speed-boosting move that's almost exclusively learned by Rock-type Pokémon, Rock Polish can be pretty useful even in competitive battles.
Anyone can use the TM symbol without legal repercussions. But the R symbol is only for marks that have trademark protection from the USPTO. It may also be a mistake to not use either the TM or R symbol on your mark. Without the TM symbol, your competitors won't know for sure that you're planning to register the mark.
