Why is Ark not letting me tame animals?
In most cases, you need to incapacitate the creature before feeding it the correct food until it becomes completely docile towards you. Of course this isn't the only way, but it is the most common method. Additionally, there are some creatures are so unruly that they simply cannot be tamed.
Tame limits. As is the tame limit is 500 per character , OK no problem.
Feeding a creature their preferred food will not only tame them faster, but also reward you with a higher taming effectiveness percentage. Most creatures also have a preferred Kibble, which will be the fastest taming food while only slightly decreasing the taming effectiveness.
Taming effectiveness is reset when it wakes up so if it has low health just spam it with meat, as long as you leave 1 kibble in just before 20:00 every day, knock it out asap, you keep your taming effectiveness and don't risk killing it!
As they try to explore their new world, they probably can't hear or see much at all. As their socialization window closes and they develop hearing and sight, those new sounds and sights will elicit fear responses. This may explain why it's extremely hard to tame wolves.
The max level for wild creatures and wild Tek creatures before taming is 150 and 180, respectively. After taming, the levels can be 224 or 269 respectively. Dinopithecus are the only exception, with 500 being their hard-cap.
Over 80 creatures can be tamed using a challenging subdue-&-protect process.
The max tamed dino level in Ark is 450. But, it ain't that easy. You have to work a lot to reach this level. Reaching level 450 will ultimately require you to use that one dino in all the activities.
Not only are berries a great way for players to keep their HP up, but they are used to craft more advanced items that players will need later. Most notably, berries are used in the crafting of narcotics, which is an item that's required to tame other dinosaurs in Ark.
Passive tames do not require the owner to render the animal or dino unconscious. Once again the tame requires a certain food, depending on whether it is a herbivore or a carnivore. Wait until the option reappears, for the food bar of the tame requires a drop before the animal can consume again.
Why can I not ride my dino in Ark?
You should be able to ride it if you quit the game and then log back in, or leave render distance of the dino and then come back.
Once you have captured a Pteranodon, you will need to feed it Regular Kibble, which can be made with a Medium Egg, Longrass x2, Savoroot x2, Cooked Meat Jerky, Fiber x5, and a source of water. Fill its inventory with as many of these as you can until the taming bar reaches max.
We already briefly mentioned the taming process in our starter guides for ARK: Survival Evolved and, sure enough, the process is quite simple and straightforward. All you need to do is knock a dino unconscious, keep it sedated with berries or drugs, and give it food until it's completely tamed.
