Altra is one of the few brands that actually make gender specific shoes. They call the women's models Fit4Her and design them to accommodate the differences versus men's feet. In general, a woman's foot has a narrower heel and midfoot, higher instep, longer arch, and different metatarsal (toe) spacing than men.
