Why is Blood-C banned? ›

Its bloody violence, a stylistic choice following the series' themes, resulted in censorship in Japan and eventual blacklisting in China.

This is Production I.G's second anime series related to the Blood franchise, the first being Blood+, which aired in 2005–2006. An animated film, Blood-C: The Last Dark was released in Japanese theatres on June 2, 2012. Blood-C was designed to share only thematic similarities with earlier Blood projects.

One of the Goriest and Brutalist anime ever made. The gory violence gets more and more graphic with each episode. Even the main character gets bashed and thrashed.

But Blood-C isn't a happy go lucky anime so yeah the mature rating is pretty high up. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII, 10.5T-Turbo. Eh, for a lot of people Akame is still pretty gory I would say... torture, skinning alive (offscreen but still), chomped in half+eaten, decapitations, etc.

Saya (小夜, Saya) hunts chiropterans using a katana. It is implied that she is the last remaining vampire and called "the only remaining original". Saya has no weakness to sunlight, although it is unknown if she has any of the other vulnerabilities often attributed to vampires.

Produced by Production I.G and distributed by Shochiku, The Last Dark is set six months after the events of Blood-C; in the universe of Blood-C humanity is secretly preyed upon by a race called the Elder Bairns, whose feeding is kept under control by an ancient agreement called Shrovetide.

The monster fights provide some excellent action and animation, gallons of blood and a little scariness but like so much of the story lacks any good suspense. Much of it has CLAMP's finger prints so glaringly over it that it's a gaudy series. Great animation and great music but a very lackluster story.

The movie corrected nearly all the flaws in the series, from the erratic and poor animation to the weak plot and lack of real character development, etc. Overall flow of the movie was solid, better character building and growth that lead to actually empathizing or at least understanding the group.

Do you need to watch blood before Blood-C? ›

While each version shares the Blood name, they each tell different stories with different outcomes, and it isn't necessary to watch each series to understand the full story. Blood+ is available for free on TubiTV, while Blood-C is available through Funimation's streaming services.

There's Blood+, Blood: The Last Vampire, and Blood-C. They have thematic similarities but are pretty different. I prefer Blood+ over the others so I recommend watching that first. If you really like that, you can watch Blood: The Last Vampire.

Blood-C is a reboot, a reimagining, which means you don't have to have seen any of the other versions.
