A concealed weapons permit is a permit issued to qualified Richmond County Citizens to legally carry a concealed weapon.
Requirements
For all first time applicants who are not Military:
To apply for a Georgia Weapons License permit, you must be a resident of Richmond County, Georgia. You will need a photo identification (such as a Driver’s license or Georgia ID card) proof of residency and/or proof of legal presence in the U.S. if you are not a U.S. citizen. You must be at least 21 years old. A fee of $78.25is required prior to making application. We only accept Cash only. This fee is not refundable once the application has been completed.
For Military Personnel:
If you are 18 years of age, you may apply for a concealed weapons permit upon proof of having completed basic training and proof that you are permanent at Fort Gordon. A fee of $78.25(cash only) is required.
For Renewals:
Your permit must not have expired more than 30 days or have more than 90 days remaining before expiring. You will not be fingerprinted; however, the Marshall’s Department will run a NICS update. A fee of $35.00 (cash ONLY) is required.
For Retired Laws Enforcement:
You must provide proof of retirement from the Georgia Law Enforcement Agency or Federal Law Enforcement Agency. A fee of $7.00 (cash ONLY) is required.
To all applicants:
If you would like your permit to be mailed to you, please provide the Probate Court Office with a stamped self addressed envelope. Please ensure you have placed your correct address on the envelope. We will NOT be responsible for any misplaced or undelivered permits. You will need a photo identification ( such as a Driver’s License or Georgia ID card with your current correct address on it).
Application Process
Applications for Concealed Weapons permit must be made during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM. The time involved in completing the application takes approximately 30 minutes, so no application will be commenced after 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
