Determining How Many Sculptra® Aesthetic Sessions and Vials are Needed - Sistine Facial Plastic Surgery (2024)

We live in a time where instant gratification is expected from cosmetic treatments especially when it comes to dermal fillers. Sculptra®Aesthetic, however, is a very popular and effective filler that works over the course of time to achieve desired results. Unlike other dermal fillers, Sculptra®Aesthetic works by stimulating the growth of the patient’s own collagen. Our patients in Pittsburgh have found Sculptra®Aesthetic to be a highly effective treatment, especially if they feel they need a little more facial volume. A key advantage of Dr. Leong’s technique of injecting Sculptra®Aesthetic is that he only uses microcannulas to perform the treatment, never sharp needles! This approach great reduces the bruising and swelling associated with the procedure as well as increasing the comfort and safety of the treatment.

Sculptra®Aesthetic requires a series of at least three sessions and then a “maintenance” treatment every year to continue to maximize results. One treatment of Sculptra®Aesthetic is never recommended and will show little to no results. Typically, only one vial is needed per treatment, however, age and facial symmetry determine this and sometimes two vials are needed. Injections during the series are spaced about six weeks apart.

Results typically do not become apparent for several months after the first treatment and can last approximately 2-2.5 years. Before and after pictures are the best way to see and compare results. Sculptra®Aesthetic provides long lasting and natural appearing facial volume which no other dermal filler offers and is highly recommended for the right candidates.
