Do I need to watch Blood+ before Blood-C? ›

While each version shares the Blood name, they each tell different stories with different outcomes, and it isn't necessary to watch each series to understand the full story. Blood+ is available for free on TubiTV, while Blood-C is available through Funimation's streaming services.

Blood-C (stylized as BLOOD-C) is a 2011 Japanese anime television series co-created by studio Production I.G and manga artist group CLAMP. It is the second anime series in the Blood franchise following the 2005–2006 series Blood+.

This is Production I.G's second anime series related to the Blood franchise, the first being Blood+, which aired in 2005–2006. An animated film, Blood-C: The Last Dark was released in Japanese theatres on June 2, 2012. Blood-C was designed to share only thematic similarities with earlier Blood projects.

Paul Risker of Starburst gave The Last Dark a score of 6/10, calling the movie "a perfectly adequate sequel and even a decent enough standalone film", but advised that it should be watched as the conclusion to Blood-C rather than a standalone project.

Saya (小夜, Saya) hunts chiropterans using a katana. It is implied that she is the last remaining vampire and called "the only remaining original". Saya has no weakness to sunlight, although it is unknown if she has any of the other vulnerabilities often attributed to vampires.

The ending of Blood-C left things in uncertainty. Only three characters with dialogue survived in the end: Saya, Fumito, and f*cka, along with a mysterious talking dog). Everyone else was gruesomely slaughtered in one of the most brutal massacres in anime history.
