The WPS push-button method is performed by pressing the physical or software-based WPS button on the Wi-Fi clients and by pressing the software-based WPS button in the G34/G36 Web Manager. WPS feature is disabled when the Wi-Fi network name (also known as SSID) is hidden.

The WPS button simply allows wireless devices to connect easily to your home WiFi network and usually can be found on the back of the router but may appear on the front of the device.

The WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button on the camera enables you to securely connect it to your wireless network without having to connect it directly to the router with an ethernet cable for the setup.

Is WPS enabled on your router? Check the WPS settings in the Wireless Setup area of your modem's user interface. Reboot your modem and try again. If you can't get WPS to work after a few attempts, try connecting to the WiFi network using the network login information printed on the modem label.

Note: To check if your router is WPS-enabled, look for a button labeled WPS on your router or access point. If there is no hardware button, there may be a virtual WPS button in the software for the device. Check your network product documentation for details.

The WPS feature and WPA2/WPA3 Mixed encryption are enabled by default in the G34/G36 to perform a WPS push-button connection. The WPS pin code method is disabled by default.

The WPS button simplifies the connection process

Press the WPS button on your router to turn on the discovery of new devices. Then, go to your device and select the network you want to connect to. The device is automatically connected to the wireless network without having to enter the network password.

The Wi-Fi Alliance introduced the WPS standard in 2006, and, in time, all manufacturers of Wi-Fi equipment have adopted it. As a result, WPS is now a basic feature present on all wireless routers and mesh Wi-Fi systems.

Some models will instead use the WPS symbol, which looks like two arrows pointing to each other in an oval shape. It kind of looks like the universal recycling symbol if it were missing an arrow and is more circular than triangular.

How do I open WPS settings? ›

Open WPS Office. Click the Home icon in the upper-left corner, and then click Global Settings → About WPS Office.

The Wi-Fi Alliance introduced an alternative to WPS called “Wi-Fi Easy Connect.” This feature was included in the release of Android 10. Wi-Fi Easy Connect utilizes device-specific QR codes for connecting. You still don't need to enter a password, but it's much more secure.

With the Router powered on, press and hold the WPS/RESET button (more than 10 seconds) until the SYS LED becomes quick-flash from slow-flash. Then release the button and wait the Router to reboot to its factory default settings.

This is why we disable WPS. Once disabled, you'll need to use the conventional password method to add additional devices to your wi-fi network (less convenient) but your router will no longer be vulnerable to a WPS attack (more secure).

Note: You will need to press and hold the WPS button on the wireless router for about 2-3 seconds. After a short period of time, your device and the wireless router will be connected.

Locate the Ethernet cable running from your router to your PC, and unplug the end connected to your PC. Then, plug it directly into the range extender.
