Genshin Impact: Every Member of the Fatui Harbingers Explained (2024)

Genshin Impact has a wonderfully fleshed-out narrative as it tells the story of Teyvat, but it seems every time a problem comes up, it's tied to the Fatui. At the top of the Fatui ranks sit 11 Harbingers, each with their own story and mission of collecting the Gnoses for the Tsaritsa. Players have had the privilege of meeting 5 of them, but there's plenty about all eleven hidden throughout the game via character stories and world quests.

Their positions, for the most part, have been confirmed. As it stands, Genshin Impact has confirmed 9 of 11 positions. The only two unconfirmed are Pierro, ranked either as number 1 or 0 and Il Capitano, whose theorized positions could be 1 or 10.

Genshin Impact's Fatui Harbingers

Pierro - The Jester: As the Director of the Fatui, Pierro sits at the top of the rankings. Regardless of whether he's regarded as 0 or as number one, his power is understood with very little room for debate. Pierro has had a personal hand in recruiting three other Harbingers: The Doctor, The Balladeer, and The Fair Lady. In the Sumeru Interlude quest, he was revealed to have been a royal mage from Khaenri'ah who had lived alongside the abyss sibling.

Il Dottore - The Doctor: Ranked at number two of the Fatui Harbingers, Dottore is the ever-brilliant mad scientist trope. Formerly known as Zandik, he studied at the Sumeru Akademiya before being expelled for pushing moral boundaries and murdering a colleague. Pierro had sent him personally to the island of Tatarasuna to wreak havoc and cause upset in Inazuma. His most impressive feats include creating segments of himself and creating a false god. At the end of the Sumeru Archon quest, he walked away with both the Dendro and Electro Gnoses.

Columbina - Damselette: Very little is known about the third Harbinger, Columbina. Both Tartaglia and Wanderer warn the Traveler not to go anywhere near her. She is described as extremely dangerous despite her outwardly uncaring and oblivious nature. As one of the top three Harbingers, she is said to have a power that could rival the gods. When brought up in theory videos, many often speculate her to be the last of the seelie race.

Arlecchino - The Knave: The fourth Harbinger, Arlecchino, has been described as crazy as far back as Tartaglia's introduction. For someone so hellbent on fighting everyone, Tartaglia seems to want nothing to do with her. She isn't the original Knave either, having surpassed the previous one after a clash. As the head of the House of Hearth, an orphanage that fosters child soldiers, she is known as "Father". Her appearance in Fontaine's quest has been surprisingly neutral, almost positive, as she aims to gain the Hydro Gnosis and use it to undo Fontaine's prophecy situation.

Pulcinella - The Rooster: The fifth Fatui Harbinger. He is referred to as the mayor by Wanderer, but very little is known about him. He takes care of Childe's family while he is away on missions since Pulcinella stays in Snezhnaya.

Scaramouche - The Balladeer: Though he no longer holds this seat, Scaramouche, the Balladeer, had been a sad*stic Harbinger. He had even kept certain recruits around because he enjoyed their fearful expressions. The Tsaritsa and Pierro alike had sent him out to the Abyss, but it is not stated what for. The seat of the sixth harbinger now sits empty, and according to Teyvat, has been empty for hundreds of years.

Sandrone - Marionette: Very little is said about her, but it is known that she is the seventh harbinger. Always engrossed in her work, players know she works on ruin guards and nothing more.

La Signora - The Fair Lady: Signora was a successful diplomat, having gained the Geo Gnosis. However, she perished before the throne in Inazuma. Her funeral was shown in "A Winter Night's Lazzo." Many players theorize and hope for a revival in Natlan's quest, but no such evidence exists for this.

Pantalone - Regrator: He is the wealthiest of all Harbingers. Having never gained a vision, he sought instead for another way of power in the form of mora. The traveler had been warned against diving into his work when treasure hoarder Bao'er got tangled in his business in the world quest "Big Business."

Tartaglia - Childe: The lowest ranked and youngest Fatui Harbinger. He fell into the Abyss when he was younger, unlocking his Foul Legacy form when being personally trained by a woman named Skirk. He used forged Sigils of Permission in the Liyue Archon quest to awaken Osial, thinking it would lure out the Geo Archon so that he would claim his Gnosis.

Il Capitano - The Captain: Little is known about this harbinger, not even his ranking. However, players do know that he has a good reputation among the Fatui.
