  1. Mostly all Yanmar tractors are diesel. But in 2019 Yanmar develop new industrial gas Engines. Gas engines produce very little PM - particulate matter and are comparatively quieter than diesels. This makes them ideal for work indoors and in enclosed areas, where environmental concerns are a major consideration. Yanmar has more than 30 years of experience working with gas engines. This long-earned experience together with deep knowledge of industrial diesel engine technology has allowed to develop a proprietary gas combustion system for high output, fuel efficient and compact engines that display the durability and reliability required of industrial applications and deliver new value to the customers. Yanmar can now provide customers with a “One-Stop Solution”, whereby Yanmar can offer either a diesel or gas power source in one-stop sales contact, with maximum compatibility to the customer’s equipment. With the addition of these new gas engines to Yanmar’s existing industrial engine lineup, Yanmar is well placed to meet customers’ demands with a versatile range of power solutions.
  2. Yanmar built the world's first small diesel engine, the HB model, in 1930. And have been building diesel engines ever since including some enormous diesel engines for marine applications. These larger marine engines used the world’s first combustion system called “ASSIGN” (Available Space, Scattering Injection, Geometric Nexus), which incorporated the new technologies of high dispersion nozzles and a deep bowl-type combustion chamber, features that led to enhanced fuel economy, reduced emissions and ceased smoke emission.

  3. 6KE-HT marine propulsion engine (400 hp) - the first fresh-water cooling system, which used fresh water to cool the engine, and then used seawater to cool the heated fresh water. Was completed in October 1975. By using fresh water, which could be stored at much higher temperatures than previously used seawater, mechanical and cooling loss was prevented, resulting in reduced fuel consumption.

  4. Yanmar built the compact tractors for John Deere for almost 30 years. If you look under the hood of many compact John Deere tractors you fill find a Yanmar diesel engine.

  5. After being out of the US tractor market for almost 30 years, Yanmar is now selling tractors in the USA again. At first, under the Cub Cadet/Yanmar brand and now under their own brand.

  6. The early Yanmar were painted a dull lime green color. Turns out that color was not very popular here in the USA so they changed it after a few years to a deep red. The red is between the dark red Massey color and the brighter red Case IH red.
