Seven years after McDonald’s discontinued the fan-favorite Snack Wraps, the menu item is making a comeback. Sort of.
McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger announced Wednesday that the menu items will return under a new name as part of the fast food chain’s “McCrispy” line. The company’s president said the new version of this item will be called the McCrispy Snack Wrap.
According to a press release from the company, the McCrispy will be offered in McDonald’s markets around the world by 2025 and will include everything from tenders to Snack Wraps, plus new menu items in the line.
While the company announced the timeline for the McCrispy line, it failed to offer a more specific timeline of when the Snack Wraps will return to McDonald’s markets.
The original Snack Wraps that were on the menu consisted of chicken, lettuce, sauce and shredded cheese wrapped in a warm tortilla. You used to be able to get the chicken either crispy or grilled, with three different sauce options. The company discontinued the original Snack Wrap in 2016 due to employee complaints, citing the product was too complicated to make.
The announcement comes as the fast-food chain recently opened up a concept restaurant called CosMc’s in Illinois.
