Finally, the resolution is the solution to the conflict and the end of the story. In Matilda, the resolution is that Miss Trunchbull is never heard from again, the Wormwoods allow Matilda to stay with Miss Honey, and the children of Crunchem Hall Primary School now have a loving adult to look after them.

While there are several lessons to be learned from the story of Matilda, the most important moral of the book is that being unique is a good thing. As people are often thought of as outcasts if they are a little different than others, the lesson is that differences should be both appreciated and celebrated.

The glass finally tilts over, and the newt splashes out with the water! Matilda concentrated so hard with her eyes that she made the glass move. This was her first experience realizing she has the power of telekinesis, or the power to move things using only her mind.

From then on, Matilda would visit the library only once a week in order to take out new books and return the old ones. Her own small bedroom now became her reading room and there she would sit and read most afternoons, often with a mug of hot chocolate beside her.

In Roald Dahl's Matilda, Miss Trunchbull is the mean principal who hopes The Chokey—a tall, slim cabinet whose walls are covered in broken glass—is enough of a punishment to make the children at school behave and be frightened of her.

She discovers she has telekinetic powers which she uses to her advantage. She then gets adopted by Miss Honey, who has taught her at her school, who is very nice to her and does notice her intelligence.

Matilda is able to free herself from a family that's thoroughly boorish, but kids in real life have to learn to make connections with the people around them and not look for ways to run away. It's a difficult lesson, but most kids will accept that this is an exaggerated fantasy.

In a lot of ways, Miss Honey is the supportive parental figure that Matilda has never had. She motivates Matilda to build her powers of telekinesis, and she confides some of her problems to Matilda because she is trusting. Finally, Miss Honey is a strong and independent woman.

Matilda brings Miss Honey back to her house and asks her father if she can stay behind and live with Miss Honey. Matilda's father agrees and the family leaves her behind.

Miss Honey knew Matilda would lose her power eventually. She explains that before Matilda began the higher-level classes, she had too much energy in her brain, which she ended up using to move objects. Now that Matilda is in a class that challenges her to use that mental energy, she cannot move things with her eyes.

In the 1996 film Matilda, Matilda Wormwood is only six and a half years old. This means that when she attends school and meets her beloved teacher Miss Honey, she is in the first grade.

No matter what Miss Honey tries to say about how smart Matilda is, Miss Trunchbull only has negative things to say about Matilda. Miss Trunchbull even accuses Matilda of putting a stink bomb under her desk, setting a fire, and is completely against her, all because of what her father has said.

Hortensia admits she's been inside six times. Twice, she was inside for an entire day. She admits she can't recall why she was sent there each time, but she tells Matilda and Lavender that the first time she was sent to the Chokey, it was for playing a trick on Trunchbull and putting syrup on Trunchbull's chair.

As she is about to drink some water, the newt that Lavender put in the water scares her, and Matilda is blamed. Matilda becomes so angry at being blamed that she focuses her attention on tipping the glass of water with her thoughts, and Matilda discovers that she can make things move with her mind.

The book's major conflict is established in the first several chapters—the conflict between children and oppressive, cruel adults. Dahl introduces Matilda, his protagonist, as the brilliant and sensitive young child that she is, juxtaposed against her parents who fail to see her giftedness.

Matilda hatches a plan to help Miss Honey to get her family home back. She uses her bravery, smarts and supernatural powers to discover that the grand house Miss Trunchbull lives in belonged to Miss Honey all along. She secures the deeds and scares Miss Trunchbull into leaving.

Matilda asks permission to live with Miss Honey, to which her parents rather distractedly agree. Matilda and Miss Honey find their happy ending, as the Wormwoods drive away, never to be seen again.

Matilda is a show to give you the strength to stand up for yourself, no matter what sort of abuse you are under. She goes through an ordeal of verbal abuse at home and heads to a world of verbal and physical abuse in school.
