Children under 14 travel free of charge.
There are several types of tickets:

  1. Single ticket, valid 90 minutes € 2,20
  2. 24-hour pass € 7,60
  3. Ticket valid for 3 days from the date of validation: €15,50
    The ticket is valid until the end of the public transport service on the third day, i.e., at 03:45 a.m. (not at midnight).
    For example: the Thursday service closes at 03.45 a.m. on Friday. So, if you stamp your ticket at 00:01 am on Friday, you are still actually travelling on the Thursday transport service day, not the Friday one.
  4. 10-ticket pass: it cannot be used by more than one person at a time € 19,50

The ticket can be used with no limitation on buses, trams, underground lines and on the urban tracks of the suburban trains (Passante Ferroviario); it must be validated at the beginning of the journey and at any transportation change.

Milano has five underground lines: M1 Rossa (Red), M2 Verde (Green), M3 Gialla (Yellow) and M5 Lilla (Purple) connecting the city to the suburbs.The M4 Blu (Blue)is under construction: It is now openfrom Linate Airport to San Babila, in the city centre.Besides the underground, the Passante Ferroviario (suburban trains) connects Milano to the province, to other cities in Lombardy and outside the region.

The public transport in Milano is managed by Azienda Trasporti Milanesi - ATM.

  1. All authorized sellers: bars, newspaper stands and tobacco shops (located inside the underground stations and overground) and automatic counters inside the underground stations.
  2. ATM MILANO OFFICIAL APP: App for smartphones allowing to buy and validate tickets directly from the App.
  3. ViaSMS.Service available only for mobile phones with an Italian sim card.

  • PAY CONTACTLESS

YesMilano City Pass is the much-awaited official city pass, created with the aim of welcoming leisure and business visitors with simplified access to Duomo and many museums, and specially giving complete access to Milano’s efficient system of public transportation managed by Azienda Trasporti Milanesi(ATM): it includes 3-day travel in the metro subway system and all of public transport (trams, buses, S trains).   • OPERATING HOURS

The service on underground lines M1, M2, M3starts around 05.30 a.m. and ends around 12.30 a.m.; the M5 starts at 05.40 a.m. and stops at midnight; the M4 starts at 6.00 am and close around 12.30 am.

At night our night bus services and underground replacement bus services are in operation.

According to each line, trams are in operation approximately from about 04.30 a.m. to 02.30 a.m. and buses from about 05.30 a.m. to 01.45 a.m..Info here.
On some lines you can still find the historic trams from the 20s operating, adding a certain retro flair.

Lines 90 and 91 (external ring-road, 40 km) are operating 24/7
