Tio Pepe's cinnamon churros are convenient and easy to prepare. Each individually wrapped churro is pre-sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon and is ready to pop into the microwave or oven. Costco is retiring its cinnamony-sweet food court staple, the Twisted Churro. The good news, though, is that Costco has replaced the fan-favorite churro with a decadent Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie as big as your face and as thick as your thumb is wide.
“I'm sorry, but the churros became obsolete when the '50% more expensive,' 'new' and 'much less improved' 'twisted' version appeared during COVID,” another said. But many fans aren't hearing it. “I don't care how 'good it used to be compared to this one,' I love it now,” one said.
Like pretzels, churros are sold by street vendors, who may fry them freshly on the street stand and sell them hot. In Spain and much of Latin America, churros are available in cafes for breakfast, although they may be eaten throughout the day as a snack.
Where to Buy the Costco Churros. The brand sold in Costco's food court was Tio Pepe's, owned by parent company J&J Snack Foods. The company recently rebranded all its churro products into one umbrella brand called ¡Hola! Churros, which we have only seen available on food service supply websites so far.
In 2018, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros were introduced. The cereal has the same cinnamon sugar flavor as the original but is shaped like a mini churro.
