Is skiing in Trysil worth it? ›

All in all, our trip was an absolute blast and, for me, rivalled some of the best skiing experiences I've ever had. If gentle runs, uncrowded slopes and a relaxed atmosphere sounds like your kind of ski holiday too, I'd strongly urge you to get yourself to Trysil!

Trysil's long ski season typically runs from mid-December to the end of April, making it a great place for an Easter or late-season ski trip. Particularly with that fantastic snow cover guarantee (see reason no. 2).

The ski resort of Trysil is situated in a snow-reliable region of Norway. All of the main runs have artificial snow-making capabilities and the valley runs can be skied from the first day through to the last day of the season.

The Trysilfjellet, with a height of 1,132 metres, has ski slopes and modern lifts on three sides at up to 1,100 metres. It is a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders. Trysil is located in the Innlandet region, around 200 kilometres north of Oslo.

Night Skiing to 20:00 on Monday,Wedensday and Friday. Open lifts at Turistsenteret are T7 Sindretrekket, T8 Knetta, T4 Fryvil and T6 Eventyr. SkiStar Snow Park Trysil is open for evening skiing. Open lifts are F6 Hytteheisen, F7 Stormyra, F10 Smotten and F13 Myrsnipa.

The longest run is the base run to Trysil, with 5.4 kilometres (3.4 miles) and a vertical drop of 685 metres (2,247 ft). The most challenging run is no. 75 to Høgegga. It features a 45 degree gradient and is 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles) long.

Between December and March, Trysil is dark from early afternoon until morning, and the northern lights frequently soar across the sky. The lights, which are also called aurora borealis, show up at night when the sky is dark.

Fly to Oslo Airport Gardermoen and continue to Trysil by rental car or bus–only 160 kilometers in distance. From Oslo Airport Gardermoen there are good bus connections. Trysil gets an average annual snowfall of 215cm of snow per year and on average has 33 annual snowfall days. The current 10-year snowfall record is 48cm, the average snow depth at Trysil is 91cm.

(1) the resort is always busy and there are usually long lift queues, (3) it is quiet apart from occasional weekends and school holidays, (5) it is uncrowded and lift queues are very rare.

Our snow guarantee will give you the opportunity to re-book your trip, or get your money back, if we can't deliver the ski product we've promised. If you visit us early in the season we'll even offer you free cancellation or re-booking of your trip, up until the date of when the snow guarantee enters into force.

For beginners there are few better places to learn than Trysil. There are fantastic beginner zones at the Turistsenteret and at Høyfjellssenteret on the other side of the mountain, after which progression on to long greens is great – particularly at the latter.

SkiStar | Eksperten (“The expert”) is Trysil's steepest ski slope. It is 813 meters long and inclines 44 degrees at most.

As with most Scandinavian ski resorts, Trysil has a long-guaranteed season which starts in December and runs through until the end of April - and sometimes even into May! The resort consists of four main interconnecting ski areas, totalling an impressive 81km of downhill skiing spread over 69 well-groomed slopes.

In Trysil the highest ski altitude is 1.100m, longest piste is 5.400 m and the vertical drop is 685 m.

Traditionally, skiing has been considered an activity that is reserved for those with money. Fortunately, it is now not uncommon for ski resorts to offer discounts and deals to help those with less money enjoy the sport.
