What happens to Mu-deok at the end?
Mu-deok regains her powers and plans to leave, but her love for Jang Uk is too strong. After a passionate kiss, they save the day together. The queen's identity is revealed and everything appears to be settled.
After Jin Mu recognizes Mu-deok's true identity, he makes her run wild and kill people and she kills Jang Uk. Agonized after killing her lover, Mu-deok jumps to Gyeongcheondaeho lake and dies.
Mu-deok (who's possessed by Naksu) is gone, having been saved from certain death by mysterious forces. As for Jang-uk, he's back and more badass than ever before. He's a hunter of soul-shifters and nigh-on unstoppable.
Jung played the formerly blind palace servant Mu-deok, whose body also housed the spirit of a vengeful soul-shifting warrior named Naksu.
Besides the change in plot, another major difference from the first season to the second is the female lead switch. Season one starred Jung So-min as Naksu, but because Naksu's soul was switched to her original body, her character is then played by Go Yoon-Jung.
Mu-deok is selected to be killed and brought back to life. But instead the demonstration creates an event that traps several characters in a magical storm. Mu-deok regains her powers and plans to leave, but her love for Jang Uk is too strong. After a passionate kiss, they save the day together.
1. Jung So-min (Mu-deok/Nak-su) will not be returning. So it is confirmed: season one's female lead, Jung So-min, will not be reprising her role. Instead, it will be South Korean rising actress and model Go Yoon-Jung who will be playing the role of Nak-su.
Alchemy of Souls was divided into two parts by the Hong Sisters. While the Alchemy of Souls Season 2 finale tied up some loose ends, fans hope for more. But an Alchemy of Souls Season 3 is off the table. One of the reasons why the K-drama gained massive success was because the Hong Sisters created it.
She herself said she was just a cameo in Season 1. I am thinking that the change was because Somin didn't sign up for season 2. That's why they decided to just go with GYJ like the second choice. Maybe it was the reason of the awkward treatment of the AOS staff, director and actors towards Somin.
Jin Mu (or Fake Queen Choi) gave Jin Bu Yeon a new body/face so that no one could recognize her from the outside (i.e soul swap with Mu Deok). The last step to transform Jin Bu Yeon into the best assassin was to give her a new name and identity. This name was Naksu, the shadow assassin who made mages' head roll.
Why did Mu-deok's body change?
Another possibility is that maybe Naksu had inadvertently sealed it when she swapped her soul into Mu Deok's body. If Mu Deok's core energy was indeed sealed, it could explain why her body was so weak and unhealthy. Furthermore, maybe Mu Deok became blind because she could not handle sunlight.
After the end of part 1 in August 2022, the female lead actress Jung So-min was replaced by Go Youn-jung for part 2, after she previously portrayed the original identity for Jung's character in a cameo in part 1.
That night, Jang-uk shows up to see Bu-yeon, pointing out that their love has defied the odds and although they were never meant to be, they ended up falling for one another all the same. “I love you.” Bu-yeon says before collapsing into Uk's arms.
You guessed it! This is your place to vent your hot drama tears about the recent confirmation that Jung So-min will not be returning for Alchemy of Souls part 2, and that her character will instead by played by Go Yoon-jung.
After months of ghoulish twists and turns, Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow came to an end, leaving fans with mixed emotions. While many got a happy ending in the adrenaline-pumping soul switching drama, a few fans demand a new season with a continuation of the second lead character, Seo Yul.
Go Yoon-Jung: Naksu.
She was named Naksu because wherever she went, a trail of heads followed. She performs the alchemy of souls, magic that can change people's bodies and souls, which is forbidden in Daeho, and ends up being chased by Park Jin.
But when the drama was about halfway through, the production team announced that Alchemy of Souls had been given a second season - but only of 10 episodes. The reason we got for this from PD Park was that they had more story to tell and couldn't fit it into the 20 episode run.
One can draw similarities between Alchemy of Souls and their prior fantasy outings, like Hotel del Luna (and this writer will), but trying to guess the overlapping, overarching mysteries driving Alchemy of Souls was almost as enjoyable as the content itself with its soul-swapping magic system, alternate historical ...
I don't know the reason JSM is not in season 2, but that was a huge disappointment. I did take a peek a ep1 of season 2, but that was that. Mu-deok was the heart of Alchemy of Souls. Without her, it doesn't make sense to watch AOS .
What happens to Yul in Alchemy of Souls Season 2?
Elsewhere, Jin Mu hopes the royal isn't lying when saying he is saving Seo Yul to save him. In time, the blood parasite releases Seo Yul's torrent of energy and is expelled from the body of Bu-yeon. Following that, the genius mage has his water wick returned, enabling him to regain his pulse.
Season 1 of Alchemy of Souls is currently ongoing but, seeing the global success of the show, it has already been renewed for a second season. However, reports suggest that actress Jung So-min might not continue as the female lead in Season 2. Instead, actress Go Yoon-jung will replace her.
Alchemy of Souls then returned on December 10, 2022, with a new title — Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow — that ended on January 8, 2023. A renewal of Alchemy of Souls does look unlikely at this point. K-dramas rarely outstay their welcome with multiple seasons, plus the story is kind of wrapped up.
I eagerly waited for season 2 as I'm really impressed by season 1. With the visuals, acting skills of all actors, storyline, and new and fresh concept, Alchemy of souls have everything for known as one of the best Korean drama of 2022.
