What is Device Management on iPhone system services? ›

MDM lets you securely and wirelessly configure devices by sending profiles and commands to the device, whether they're owned by the user or your organization. MDM capabilities include updating software and device settings, monitoring compliance with organizational policies, and remotely wiping or locking devices.

The mobile device management (MDM) authority setting determines how you manage your devices. As an IT admin, you must set an MDM authority before users can enroll devices for management. You should also be assigned an Intune license to set the MDM Authority.

A factory reset does not remove Mobile Device Management; instead, it triggers the Remote Management screen, which appears when setting up the iPhone. The Remote Management screen asks for the username and password that were assigned to you by the MDM administrator before you can access the iPhone.

Unnecessary hardware can be disabled in the Windows Device Manager. Review this list and disable any devices that you do not need, such as the Web camera, Bluetooth, DVD/CD-ROM drives, Ethernet or Wireless network adapters, and any other unneeded devices.

Removing MDM will disconnect your device from your company's management server. You'll lose access to any corporate apps, emails, WiFi/VPN configurations set by your IT admin.
