What is an incremental save? ›

Incremental save means to have multiple copies of the original file, which is done automatically without the need to save a separate file manually.

Incremental Version files that are saves of the file you are working on with a new number, leaving alone the existing files on disk.

Changes and new objects are saved but if objects are deleted they are only marked as deleted in the drawing database rather than being completely removed. The Incremental Save Percentage sets the percentage of this potentially wasted space in a drawing file.

Just by pressing Shift+Cmd+S, it will open the save as dialog, and you will be able to save an increment by hand. Premiere also has "Save a Copy", which will save the current status in a backup copy and will let you work in the current project.

An incremental save backs up only the items that have been changed since the last full save.

Cons of Incremental Backups

Recovery time may be slower. Requires a full backup in addition to incremental backups for complete recovery. Recovery requires the piecing together of data from multiple backup sets. Small potential for incomplete data recovery if one or more backup sets have failed.
