You may need to use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) to connect (or pair) a device to the ARRIS NVG448 gateway, such as:

  • Another Optimum In-home Wi-Fi extender (not the first one in your home)
  • Wireless printers, laptops, phones, and tablets

To connect a device to your in-home Wi-Fi using WPS:

  1. On the wireless device you want to connect, look for a WPS button or a Wi-Fi setting called "Connect WPS" or similar.
  2. Press the WPS button on the front of the NVG448 gateway.
    • The Wi-Fi status light on the front of the gateway will begin flashing yellow for 2 minutes
    • You'll need to do step 3while this light is flashing (within 2 minutes)
  3. On the wireless device, press the WPS button or turn on the WPS setting you found in step 1.
    • If the WPS pairing worked, the Wi-Fi status light on the NVG448 gateway will flash green and then return to solid green
    • If the WPS pairing didn't work, the Wi-Fi status light will flash red and then return to solid green
      • In this case, move the device closer to the gateway (within 4 feet) and try steps 2 and 3again
